HI, i have just purchased an opel corsa lite sport and i am looking for advice as to sound installation.
Firstly which head units should i be looking at?i have read that clarion and apline units eliminate clipping almost altogether,
however they cost a lot,the clarion unit that autostyle advertise on thier site looks good but how does it compare to lets say jvc?
I am looking for Sound quality with nice tight bass instead of pure pavement pounding!
I am looking into rockford but cannot find dealers in my area(midrand) and of course not to forget the price tag.
Basically i am looking at this:
clarion DB356MP head unit,
6" lightning audio splits
Cheaper co-axials for rear fill
4ch amp to power the sub and front splits(co-ax to be powered by the HU
1,10 or 12 inch sub(rockford fosgate p2 or p3
What would you recommend?:-p
Your advice will be greatly appreciated as i am wholistically lost and needing some expert guidance..
thanks
JuCa

I went the same route, clean, clear, tight SQL not SPL.
Problem is SQL is more expensive than the SPL so most people go for the pound the shit out people rather than something that sounds AWESOME without the massive boomy pounding.
Clarrion is a great deck, sound great too.
I'm not entirely impressed with the SQL of my JVC Deck, it's good, but the best i've had so far would still be the Kenwood PS909R, no amp, nothing, just 8V pre-outs all the way.
Currently, splits are DynAudio but you are looking in the rejion of 4-->7K for a set of these, I would suggest the Polk Momo 6" splits.
Sub, I have a JL-Audio W10 10" Really nice tight sound but not cheap either.
If you looking for crisp tightness the Boston 10" is awesome.
Amps I have Zaptec Studio, SQL is great but you should look at something along the lines of the Polk Carbon or Earthquake (proper earthquake)
other than that, personal experience:
RF - Overrated
MTX - not bad, a bit boomy though
Polk, awesome!
Earthquake - can't be beaten
JL-Audio - Awesome but could be better for the price.
Boston - Awesome tight, clean etc.
Dynaudio - Can't be beaten
Hennesey - Pretty Crap
Audiobank - crap
Auddison - Very Good
JBL - Splits and one or two subs are great other than that crap
Soundstreme - Awesome, pricy
Starsound - crap
JVC - okay
Kenwood top range decks- AWESOME
Kenwood splits etc. - okay
Clarrion - Very good decks
Pioneer - old Bullets were the best, decks provide good SQL and decent power
Blaster - crap
and a few others

Thanks for the reply,i am sure it will help!
However i am still a bit perplexed on the subject of budget!
I have about 5-6k to spend so i will be going for an entry level install
How i understand it is that the head unit is exactly that, the source,no use in killing an otherwise good intall with a crappy, low budget HU!so as i said i am thinking clarion
As to splits i dont really know, polks are a bit out of my price range so i was thinking JBL or Lightning audio,
how are pegasus(have heard conflicting things abt them)
Kicker solo barics...SPL only or are they workable for my SQ dreams of grandeur,(gotta love those speakers)I know they are expensive but so are the rockford punch2's i was/am looking at!
Amps i am completely lost on apart from the fact that i know i want something to power my front splits and my 1 12" sub(or are 2 tens better?)
i realise i am long winded but this install is happening in this week and i would like to be prepared when i walk into the sound shop....i hate being bullsh1tted

Welcome to V9 Necris

Warpath pretty much summed it up quite well there. A good place to try for decent quality car sound is Hygrade in Mayfair: they're an official RF distributer.
