Last night a few titles of movies popped in my head to buy so the logical thing to do was to go on Take2 to find it, they got a broad range since they started selling imported movies and their prices are also pretty good. The movies I am looking for : Evil Dead / Evil Dead 2 / Army Of Darkness (Evil Dead 3).

So I type Evil Dead in the search function and get this, a whole fucking list of anything that contains Evil or Dead (and words I wasn't even looking for) shows...aargh, too many results!!!

So lets refine my search, put in all the details and yes, still 500 results but at least I can find Evil Dead in the list! So I click on Evil Dead Full Uncut (sounds good hey) to see what version this is (mind you, there are like 10 versions released of this movie), you think I find any details seeing what version this is? Nope, not even the coverart, director, actor, extras, widescreen, fullscreen... All I get is the price and the genre (horror, how profound!)

The same with Evil Dead 2, no details concerning subtitles, extras, coverart.... What is man to do to know what version this is without emailing 800 people? The convience of shopping online is to just click if you want something right?

Army of Darkness is also available, too bad it is only available in Region 1!
I tried kalahari.net aswell but they have nothing. Seems like this movie isn't released in SA! Which is pretty great considering the rest of the world has been through all those versions already... My idea is that when HD-DVD / Blu-Ray starts in the rest of the world, we'll be able to get all those old DVD's available here! The toilet of the world is here right????

Aargh, so my frustration continues....Guess I'll have to go on amazon.co.uk to get my shit ordered. I am just so irritated with this...Take2 most of the time is pretty good but they got such a crappy way of finding things and half of the imports aren't filled in with details. I wanna buy but I'd like to know wtf it is I am buying! Am I unreasonable?

Amazon rules! I've had nothing but pleasure dealing with them.

Take2 on the other hand, have given me problems. I was enquiring whether or not they intended on stocking something i was interested in... no reply. I contacted them many times and it seems they had no interest in me whatsoever... despite the fact that I've bought way too much stuff from them to calculate the total sad.gif

I'll only go to amazon if I can get good prices (they have great specials going on all the time, even with shipping it works out cheaper than local) or if something isnt locally available. So yeah, now I will go with them to buy my next batch of DVD's, Take2's loss I guess...

I don't shop online too often, but I have used amazon before and they have always been good to me (the few times that I have used them).

Take2 sux balls!

Firstly I ordered a Initial D boxset from them which it states within 10-15 workingdays the packaged will be delivered to me.

Fine paid for it with my CC and began my waiting

after 3 weeks of no reply and no status change I decided to phone them on the 4th week. So what happens they tell me just wait a few more days as is should be here, after 2 days and still no change so I phoned them this time they tell me that the package is missing from thier "suppliers"/couriers. It was in england but they don't have the tracking details and he spun me some crap story that they can't get the tracking number as they have to contact the supplier and it'll take another week before he gets the tracking details...

I then proceeded to find out exactly what the problem is as it seems really suspect that they would NOT have a tracking number ready and tracked down where the item is... After browsing around online and e-mailing every major places that stock this boxset (Amazon, Animeworx, Discount Anime DVD's, etc) I was given the reply that there is an international shortage on this boxset and the ETA of this stock is late March/early april.

What's the Moral of the story? Take2 if you don't have the item/cannot obtain the item stop spinning LIES and telling your customer that the package is lost in courier!!!!

You take my money for a month and in turn tell me you don't have the item??? wtf?

Is his DVD machine locked to a specific region? it's easy to unlock it.... then I can't see what the problem would be tongue.gif
JuCa
W@RP@t}-{, I dont even know if my machine is locked to a specific region but that isn't my point, I know I can easily get past the regions but my thing is that I would like to get some details, maybe I am being stubborn about that but yeah, especially when buying something online it would be handy to know. Imagine I buy it, it has a crappy transfer, crappy sound, no extras etc, I would feel bummed cos I didn't know before the time what specific version it was and wasted my money!

Ahhhhhh now I understand.........

I once bought two Billy Conolly DVD's thinking they were his shows.... ended up being his music sad.gif trust me he's a better comedian than a singer.

Usually the ones we get here are pretty good quality. Unless you buying from the flea market or something. as long as it supports Dolby Digital or DTS the sound will be good.
JuCa
The thing is, sometimes a cheap DVD can boost great transfer and sound but sometimes it is also a crappy transfer and sound. Companies keep bringing out 700 versions of a movie which, I am sure most people will never wonder about how the transfer is or anything but I do, DVD means good quality picture and not some quick re-record of a VHS (which some DVD's look like). I'll agree though, most of them are good (and no I dont buy them at the flea marker or anything)
Britz
so if region aint a problem then why dont you buy the full of detail evildead from usa import?
JuCa
Cos my player is region 2 and I am not gonna tinker with it? Anyway, moral of the story : Shop with amazon.co.uk /me buys shares of amazon.co.uk

I hope amazon can get their online music thingie going to compete effectively with iTunes, and hopefully also be available to South Africans.

But on the whole finding exactly what you're looking for, it's not very easy. I have been looking for stuff that I know is out there, but no big online retailers keep, and then I get a result from google with a reference to my search in Amazon, and it usually turns out that someone mentioned what I'm looking for in their comments sad.gif
