hi am new here i have played the guitar for about half a year so am no expert or anything but does Billy Joe play American Idiot with Barr chords i have serched the net and i cant find any site that has American idiot in Barr Chords. Would this be right for the start standerd tuning (or and btw the guy who said that the start of american idiot is hard cause he plays it fast at the beggining i have been told that it is Begginers stuff even i can play it if this is right what i have) so ur the experts is this right or can u correct me( in barr chords lol)

well it does sond right but doesnt he strum the chords instead of only strumming afew strings and that is quite difficult, but if u watch him on Bullet in a bible u will see that he uses bar chords and he doesnt have 2 move him fingers dramasticly. This is getting a bit confusing ( at this point plz corect me if bar chords are not were you put 1 finger on all the strings or 3 or 4 and use ur other fingers to on 1 string. What you have shown above is a barre chord: most of Green Day's stuff is power chords, aka fifths. So, the F# B progression you've shown above would be played by Billie Joe as:

If you had to play it with a full barre as you showed then your hand would drop off after a couple of songs. What you see Billie Joe doing in the video is in fact only fretting 3 strings, with his index finger resting across the others making it look as if he's barring it.
