Red Hot Chili Peppers Reveal New Album Details
>> Stadium-rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers have revealed details of their eagerly awaited new album, their ninth studio release, which will be released in April 2006. <<
>> Anthony Kiedis said last year, "I'm so excited about it and I'm so ready for it to be part of the public consciousness. It's a lot different to Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way. There are some profoundly funky songs and then there are songs that are new for us and don't sound like anything." <<

New Musical Express reports:

>> Red Hot Chili Peppers back at the double
'Stadium Arcadium' on the way

Red Hot Chili Peppers spoke to NME.COM about their new album 'Stadium Arcadium'.

The double album, set for release in April, is produced by long time collaborator Rick Rubin, and was originally intended as a trilogy, released six months apart.

Singer Anthony Kiedis said: "The third record made it interesting for us, because two records have been done in different configurations. System of a Down did it. Guns N' Roses did something similar, but three seemed sort of special, and we really got behind this idea until we realised that the third record wouldn't really be coming out for two years. It was like, 'This music needs to be heard now,' and two years from now we'll have new songs." <<

Red Hot Chili Peppers confirm final album details
'Stadium Arcadium' is out on May 8

Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced the final details surrounding the release of their new double album.

'Stadium Arcadium' will hit the shops on May 8 as the successor to 2002's 'By The Way'.

Originally conceived as a 38-song trilogy, 'Stadium Arcadium' will be a 24-track double LP with titles including the first single 'Dani California', which will precede the album.

Other songs set to feature are 'Snow', 'Animal Bar', 'Wet Sand', 'Charlie', 'Desecration Smile' and 'Hard To Concentrate'.

Speaking to NME.COM about the title of the release, singer Anthony Kiedis said: "'Stadium Arcadium', in the end it has a very dreamlike feeling of we on Earth reflecting the cosmos on the heavens, and we on Earth reflecting it because that's where our inspiration comes from. It's more romance of sound or whatever retarded passions exist in your soul. It's kind of a romantic affair."

The LP also marks the first time the band have managed three consecutive records with the same line-up, following the return of guitarist John Frusciante to the fold for 1999's 'Californication'.

However, Kiedis refuted the suggestion that this means the band had fully conquered their demons.

"It feels great, and I hope it stays that way, but I wouldn't say our troubles are all over. In some ways it's good to hold on to a few of your demons... I don't think our troubles are completely over. We're a bit bent in the head and I think that serves us well."

Red Hot Chili Peppers entered the studio last March with producer Rick Rubin (Beastie Boys, [a]System Of A Down) to start work on 'Stadium Arcadium' and having played three shows at London's Hyde Park eighteen months ago to a total of 300,000 people, the band plan to return to the UK for a tour later this year.

Californication is their best album imho.

I like By The Way - something of a coming of age album (if that makes sense).

I will most def bet my paws onto this latest one as well!
Gitano
I completely agree. Californication was amazing, but by the way was wierd. It was good in its own way, but never had that singalong, everyone knows it kind of feel that came with californication.

I think I will give this one a try anyway, see what they can come up with this time.

In a very daft (and clearly greedy) move, RHCP have apparently decided to stick the 12 or 13 songs that didn't make the album as bonus tracks on many different versions of the album. So, each of several retailers will have their own version e.g. iTunes, Wal Mart, Amazon, etc. and you'll have to buy (or download) each album if you want every track sad.gif

That fucking sucks, man! sad.gif You wanna go out and buy the music of a band that you support, and then they wanna do THIS? And it ain't even like they need the money, cause they have shitloads of that in any case. sad.gif

HowlinMadMurdoc, it's been a couple o' weeks since Dani California has been released, and STILL no comment? tongue.gif

I think that the track is pretty ok. I didn't like it all that much when I first heard it, but it has grown on me. I love the guitar solo at the end as well.

Pity the album is only gonna be released next month though. sad.gif

Cyber - Feel like writing a review on the album for blogtainment.za.net?

JuCa
Got the cd the other day at Musica and I've only really listened to the first cd and I must say I really like what I'm hearing...

Is it as good as Californication? Not in my opinion although it is a different kind of tracklist and vibe...
It is better then By The Way though and it has some nice songs on it :

Good at the moment are :

Dani California, Stadium Arcadium, Torture Me, Snow (Hey Oh), Charlie, Slow Cheetah, Especially In Michegan, C'mon Girl, Hey

Disliking :

Hump De Bump

Neutral :

She's only 18,

So overall I am liking it but I generally like the mellow RHCP songs more than the funky ones...
Gitano
Possibly a review for blogtainment JuCa?
Sounding good, I cant wait to get the CD either, but I need the cash first...
JuCa
Hehe, I can't explain myself when it comes to music and how much I like a song or even dislike it...Sorry.
Gitano
Damn!
Me neither, thats why I asked you!

I can't say I like the new album too much, I reckon RHCP have pretty much lost the plot. I shudder to think what their next album will be like.

I actually had a discussion this last weekend about the band, and vehemently argued against the fact that RHCP are primarily a live band. I mean, what good is playing your material live if it's crap?

I honestly don't know why people think RHCP put on such a fantastic live show. I recently watched their 'Live at Slane' DVD and after all the hype (mainly from HMM tongue.gif) I was quite disappointed.

Sure, they're very energetic on stage, but any idiot can jump around like a nutter when playing live. It would also help if it didn't affect the quality of their performance: a lot of the time Kiedis only sings every second line because he's so out of breath (and he's not such a great vocalist anyway), and Frusciante (who is ALWAYS bent over double with a pained look on his slack-jawed face as if he is violently constipated) plays very sloppily. Flea isn't too bad, but occasionally his antics seem to overrun his drug-fried brain and he falls out of sync with the rest of the band.

People seem to forget that it's talent and creativity that forms the backbone of a good live act, NOT seeing just how ape-shit you can go on stage while still holding on to your instrument.

Now, for some REAL torture, go listen to some of Frusciante's solo work: the off-pitch shrieking and mumbled lyrics are enough to make you turn to RHCP ermm.gif
TCO21
honestly i've never really been a RHCP fan... although, the other day i was watching the top 10 at ten when they were playing RHCP songs, and i must admit that i enjoyed every song smile.gif like the video to Dani California too.
Carrots
The new CD is a double CD, right? The second CD is better than the first imo. I havent been looking at the names that much, as I only listen at work while I work. Desecration smile is the only one that springs to mind. On the Mars CD.
Surge
Yeah, Desecration Smile is a great way to start off the second CD.

I bought the album yesterday, so I will alos listen to it all the way while I work today. biggrin.gif
Surge
Well, after listening to the album a few hundred million times, I have the following to say...

After the first full listen to the album, I was not all that impressed, and suffered from some cognitative dissonance... but eventually I came around and do enjoy the album now.

It is no Blood Sugar Sex Magick, or One Hot Minute, or Californication, but still a good listen.

I would go so far as to call it an all-time classic Rock album, but it is most def a classic Chili Peppers album.

Standout tracks:

Dani California (love the guitar solo)
Snow
Stadium Arcadium
Slow Cheetah
Hey
Desecration Smile
Tell Me Baby (one of their best songs)
Readymade (another cool guitar solo here)
She Looks To Me
Animal Bar (for some reason I just think about the coming of age years when this one plays)
