The Contest That Might Become Your Career

BioWare is holding one of the most exciting contests in our history. Anyone who has dreamed of writing professionally will find this a unique opportunity to get their work noticed by the right people. We are looking for exceptionally talented writers to help develop our award-winning roleplaying games.

BioWare's Director of Design James Ohlen and Assistant Director of Design Kevin Barrett have agreed to make the process of submitting work as easy as possible for writers looking to work for BioWare.

BioWare asks for writers to create a Neverwinter Nights module to tell their story using the Aurora Toolset. There are a lot of options to consider when creating a module in the Toolset, but it is important to remember that BioWare will only be interested in the writing.

When hiring writers, BioWare looks only at your writing; not the areas, not the special scripting, and not the combat. We evaluate only the characters, the dialogue, the plot, the non-linear structure, and the flow and pace of the story.

Done.

Things like this make me wish I could write! And all the ppl I know that can write wouldnt be able to write games. sad.gif

I guess everyone knows that Black Isle was disbanded? The ppl that made some of the greatest games (Baldurs gate saga) of all time imo is no more....

And the Fallout series (well, in a way - Black Isle were a division of Interplay, after all). And Planescape: Torment.
Yeah, Black Isle were the shizzle!

But don't forget that, back in the day, Bioware were designing the game engines that Black Isle used for their games. So it's not like they are newcomers to the scene - They have had an active hand in CRPGs from the start. The only difference now is that they are not only designing the game engine, but also writing their own games.

To get back on topic, though. I would *love* to write for Bioware. But on the other hand i also think that it's mostly a thankless job, and not one without it's pressures. I suspect that people expect a lot from you, and that you would probably expect a lot from yourself too. I know i would.
