I'm looking to get aircon installed in my car, but as it's a 1.3 Tazz it mustn't chow my engine power. I've seen ads on the roadside claiming that you can get one that doesn't use engine power installed for around R1600, but I don't know how reliable those systems would be.

Does anyone have any recommendations of where I could get a decent a/c installed without it completely raping my student budget?

Seriously dude, aftermarket el cheepo electric aircon systems aren't worth it.

You get what you pay for...

Just my opinion though...

I was considering fitting aircon to my project 2 door golf - R10k for the best system on the market. Would run off my 2L engine.

For R10 I can have a really decent turbo setup with Aquamist water coolers installed into the car.

Get one of those fans that plug in to the ciggie lighter. tongue.gif

I know there are electric aircon's that only use your batteries power but which is the better make that'll be a tough one to decide...

I have an aircon in my 1300 Tazz. I love it. It works like a "turbo" button. Turning it off can increase your cars power by about 25% tongue.gif

Driving with car windows open can consume more energy and fuel than having an aircon engaged. It has to do with the drag created.

If you do get one installed and are concerned with loss of power, switch it off when the power is required.

END!
