Originally written for a German TV programme, the Schnappi song became a massive hit on the internet before being played by a German radio station and snapped up by a record label. It has now sold over 1 million singles internationally and topped the charts throughout Europe going platinum in Norway, Switzerland Austria and triple platinum in Germany.
The success has even been repeated down-under where it reached number 2 in New Zealand, going gold in the process.
Schnappi is the story of a baby croc teething on his father's leathery leg and how proud his mother is! The song was written by Iris Gruttmann, at the request of her niece Joy - who at the time was just 4 years old - however Iris insists that Schnappi is all Joy is doing, "she came up with the lyrics and tune" she says. After Joy recorded the vocals for Mouse, the TV programme, Iris posted the song on the Internet for the family to hear, little knowing how big the little crocodile was about to become.
Since the release of Schnappi Joy has become the youngest person in European history to reach number 1, has performed on Top of the Pops with Schnappi her little crocodile friend and won 'Best Download of the Year' at the Echo Music Awards (the German Grammys).
Joy: "I am so happy and surprised that people in so many countries like my single - this is so exciting! My aunt has just told me that, even though it is in German, people in Britain like my Schnappi song. I'm just starting to learn English in school so I really hope that Schnappi and I will have the chance to visit soon."

If he buys the single I'll have to consider serious action
