And how much did all of this help?
Nothing. Telkom still overcharges people with their 'always on' broadband.

Most petitions get ignored.
Same like the "Bring back the deth penalty one"
We all signed it and we still living with a crime rate thats 800% more than it was before 1994.

And that is the sad reason why I don't bother with petitions...

Petitions make the person signing them feel better. Like they have done their part at trying to make the world a better place. Most of them get ignored though. I still sign some of them myself.

Yeah but people whine too much, if it is too expensive or whatever. Why not just boycott Telkom and their ADSL by not getting it? If enough people did it they surely would see the picture?
I sure as hell wouldn't do it, I wouldn't even sign a petition but making an actual stand probably would do better than the idea of making a difference

I agree, a boycott is the better option, but how many people will be able to survive for MONTHS (cause it'll take months for them to feel the impact) without the net?

Precisely the reason I will not be one of those who does it. But it would be the only way to do so or switch to an alternative (which are...?).

With the ANC currently holding a 40% stake in Telkom we can forget competition. The govt isn't going to put their earnings at risk be allowing competition in.
Although, it's been proven that competition in business helps a country's economics develop and thrive.

Switch to dial-up for those months - it'll be painful, but perhaps worthwhile.

Indeed. When Telkom shares were released to the general public, the ANC honchos made a SHITLOAD of cash off the deal as well... But hey, do you really expect fair competition (where the fuck is the SNO btw?) when corrupt monkeys are running the show?

Here Here!
The only way to save this country is to remove the ANC from power. That, or have a major governmental shake down and remove those who cannot do their jobs properly... Like Manto...

Sadly there are too many yahoos who support the ANC. Odd that most of the yahoos are people who suffer MORE due to the ANC's corruption as well.

True that!
What really gets to me is the support that obvious criminals like Zuma and Yengeni get.
They're regarded as hero's by some of they yahoo's who still live an really terrible conditions.
I just can't fathom how you would really want a criminal as president.
I mean, realistically, what kind of message will it send to other countries and to this country if a corrupt individual like Zuma does take the presidency?
Do crime! You just might have a shot at being the president!
