Hello Vault9'ers,
I think we need a name for that. Someone who is a member of Vault9. But anyway - as some of you may have already noticed we have launched Global9.vault9.net!

Global 9 has been designed to give you a fast overview, in a friendly layout, of the entire Vault9 network. This feature was partially implemented in the "Global View" on the main site, but is now up and running like you asked for it.

There are a couple of features nestled in the site that you may also find of interest, the first (and most requested) is the Global Login. This allows you (with some rather tasking code) to easy log into every Vault9 website you are registered on, providing of course you have the same username and password on them.

Another feature is the ability to select a colour scheme from your favourite Vault. You can favourite the URL and you'll always be presented with the colour of your choice - we're also working on a cookie system whereby it will remember what you chose!

First most obvious bug I've noticed isn't really a bug and can be easily fixed.

On the global9 site it says the following.

Although this might look awesome maybe a recount of statistics on all the vaults is in order as it doesn't really reflect the true stats of each vault.

Second one which can be considered a bug is that after 45 seconds of hectic activity on the global login it just stays on a blank page. I don't even want to imagine how long it's going to take the poor dial up users to log in when it takes this long on my 512adsl.

It takes about 10 seconds on my 512K dsl. It loads only the logon page from each vault - so its significantly less that logging into them any other way. Also if you need to logon to all the vaults, its assumed that you'll be browsing them. Each page is roughly 13K so its about 90K to logon to the lot.

Also I don't understand the blank page? It tells you to wait for it to complete loading...

As for the miscounted stats - simply recounting suprisingly doesn't fix it. We'll work on it.

Sorry. I meant to say that it remains on that page once is has been completed. Is it supposed to do that or should it take one back to the global9 site?

well me as well - but i noticed at the bottom of the browser - it keeps on looping through all the vaults repeatedly - so i gave up trying to login

I tried it and its just 8 iframes loading each login page. As if you had favourited each of them and typed in your stuff

I can't seem to get the login to work at the moment. Doesn't load a place for me to type in my username and password. This is on IE, don't have firefox here so haven't tried that yet.

Looks really good though.

I'm using Firefox and the login thing is there, it just takes ages to log me in to all the sites. Try Firefox cyfer, or maybe update your IE?

Thanks for all the effort that went into Global9.

Just to confirm that the Input Boxes are not appearing in IE (pls see attached image). This may be a problem for IE users only as they do display in firefox.

There was talk of a 'single view new topics'. Not sure if it was on Global9 and I missed it or maybe it is still coming?

I am sure this will please many users.

Otherwise Global9 is a great feature

Very sorry about that, the IE bug. It wasn't tested properly but it'll be sorted out in a few minutes. Could anyone supply an example of when it shows but doesn't login?

Okay the login now works in IE & FF. But that hasn't fixed the bug that some people are reporting of it not working at all?

Thats exactly what its meant to do. Each one of those small windows is a vault9 site logging you in.

Also experiencing problems with the global logon...

gor the same "effect" as the picture nCryption posted on -page 1- of theis thread...
the clicking back on the browser (using IE), got a major font change on the whole page.

I need Info: currently i'm just registered on Chill Vault, but would like to active on some of the others... By making use of this "global logon" module, will i automatically be registered over all the vaults?

PS: re-traced my steps, got the same effect again... also the layout went completely hay-wire.

klesk I think you need to register manually across all the vaults, hence why theres a register link next to each of them on that global page

but dont take my word for it, one of the admins will be able to confirm.

klesk88 I think you will first have to register on the other vaults with the same username and password before the global login will log you in to the other Vaults. I.E. I don't think it will register you on the vaults.

yes, i think a < logged on> <logged off> indicator will be nice to have.

Suggestion 1 -> text field next to each room showing where you are registered, what your stauts is.
Reason -> i'm only registered on 5 vaults and would like to know form this "landing page" where I can enter without hassel...?!?

Suggestion 2 -> cater for a 3rd indicator with the logon/loggedoff field... like <problem encoutered>. This could indicate a wrongly typed USR or PSW or even maintenance done on specific vault, server down, etc.

I'm not trying to be synical about any work done. it's just the way me and my programming friends analyze sites/software packages and try to evolve them to be better... faster... more "friendly"...

i have only been here for a short time and i enjoy the interface and the layout very much. Keep up the good work.

Fruitloop...I thought we went over this and I thought you said you understood. There is a difference between a suggestion and simply moaning, Unfortunately I can't make it any clearer than that. Do you have a suggestion? Would be happy to hear it...

Hi

I have never been able to use the Global9 site. At first the login process just kept looping forever, and now I cant see the login section at all.

I also see cArp XML errors all over the page.

Also I cannot use the Atrum IRC network anymore. I used to connect to resync.atrum.org:21, but no luck anymore. I have spoken to some admins about this but no news.

Could someone PLEASE get back to me and ask for whatever details required so that this can be sorted out?
