Hi Lets get this discussion underway yet again... Looks like it's a different year and Arsenal yet again has a home match after the first few tough Champions League match...
What are your bets this year?
What are your thoughts about the amount Chealsea spent on new recruits?
Do you think Edwin van der Sar can be man utd's saviour?
How does Gerrard staying at Liverpool going to help?
Any Chance that Liverpool going to maintain the Champions League Title this season?
Does Arsenal have a chance after loosing Patrick Viera to Juve?
Will Park Ji sung be a replacement for Ryan Giggs?
P.S These are the only teams that I have a interest in.... feel free to add additional comments or players etc
Lets kick this season off...

Wigan don't get relegated
Chelsea are spending less this year I think.... BUT clubs are now upping the prices on players when Chelsea show an interest... because they know there is moolah there!
Don't care about Man U.. Wigan better
Liverpool need Gerard, but he may not be the only good player there now... Figo... Can gerard perform with Figo in the team?
No Liverpool won't win the CL this year.
Yes Arsenal have a chance... they have a lot of good youth players. But Wigan better...
Don't care about Man U... oh wait I said that.
Go WIGAN GO

Even though my confidence levels in this respect are almost 0,
LIVERPOOL!!!
I really do hope that we can do something this year. Champions league, I hope, but I dont think so.
Unfortunately, even though I do like Gerard on the whole, I think he was a bit of a media whore over the whole yes no yes no yes no yes no yes thing with his contract, and Im sure it earned him a few extra pounds at the end of the day.
Chelsea, I dont know. They were the best team around last year, but I dont know how long their form will continue, Jose is obviously optimistic, but Im not so sure.

good call... apparently he's a real ass-hole in the locker room.
liverpool winning the CL... oh yes, i thought that was a nightmare (really - i'm sure that nobody can believe that - happen again: the sky will fall on our heads)
chelsea are going mad... 21mil for Wright Phillips? insane.
they're going after that dutch guy for >30 mil... stop the insanity
Giggs = greatest contributor to MUFC since cantona (and maybe better than him)
i think arsenal will be fine without vieira.
i think we'll see man utd, arsenal and chelsea on top for most of the season (perhaps one of them will get off to a bad start), with one or two teams performing well but burning out after christmas.

They can't. Nobody else will marry Charles if he gets divorced again... Don't think the pope will die too soon. There is too much they are relying on to win the CL...

Figo is off to Inter......
Fulham look set for the drop unfortunately unless they buy some decent players.......which with their budget will not happen.
Man United hunting Ballack, looks like he wants to get out of Germany.Being a Man U fan I think Van Der Sar is the dumbest signing ever, had a few BIG clangers last season (more than Carroll) and at 34 is long in the tooth.Though we have a huge talent in Giuseppe Rossi......amazing striker for his age.
Everton will NOT come close to last years finish in the league, after selling Gravesen they BARELY hung on to 4th...

GO CHELSEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe spending 21mil for wright phillips was a bit of a silly mood, i was still impressed with the way he played against AC milan. I think chlesea have a huge chance of getting the double. As for liverpool, they were just lucky with the champions league and I dont see them doing much this year. Also hope Portmouth does well and that arsenal see's its ass!!!!!!!!

well i'm a Man Utd fan and i've seen their games on their tour of Japan on SS3 and Van Nistelroy can't hit the side of a barn, the last injury he had did something,he's a different player......the last few games of last season he missed a few sitters, and now he's at it again.
Personally I don't see anyone knocking Chelsea off the top, behind them it's the usual suspects.....ManU,Arse,Liverpool.

So... People... Who things Wigan we stay top 5 or top 10 till end of season? And what about the come back from Arsenal... and Man unt... They didn't seem to have the best of starts, but they seem to be gaining some form as of late.
Woot woot. Go Gunners!

I'm not sure if i've mentioned my thoughts on Wigan here before... but it goes something like this ->
Every season there's a team that performs reall, really well, and pop into the top 3 for a short time. They usually drop down the table because they don't have the player resources and that's just how it goes!
Remember a few years back when Leicester were top of the league at christmas? Everyone was thinking they were super-duper and Peter Taylor was heralded as the next England manager and included in Sven's team... where are Leicester now ???
Bolton were the culprits last season, but have shown some real promise by delivering some consistency this season too.
Good luck to Wigan, they might stick around the top 5 this season because everyone has accepted that Chelsea will walk away with the trophy again
Little Devil

Personally, I know Wigan will fall.. Look at their GD... They are winnings games by a goal basically. I know a win is a win... But when it comes to cames against Chelsea, Arsneal, ManU, Liverpool they will need more than 1 goal to win.
Chelsea might slip up... From what I saw on TV, they are not doing to good in the Championship.

As soon as u thought ManU where getting better they get knocked out the UEFA CL. Arsenal got thumped last weekend 2-0 whilst Thierry went on to break our untouchable record in Group B of UCL by missing his penalty shots. This weekend sees Arsenal take on Newcastle in a game that seems vital if there too regain 2nd..

Dec 9 2005, 02:01 AM
yeah well you can't blame arsenal or man utd... both teams are trying to rebuild the team via a youth team... chelsea rebuilt their team based on best player money can by... so they have an average age of 27 there
Aresnal has moved their age gap to around 24's while man utd are sitting around 21
terrible thing this but none the less man utd and arsenal will get back up
Heir_of_Isildur
Dec 9 2005, 03:01 AM
Arsenal will be a much bigger threat when they can fill a bigger stadium. I can't remember the stats, but United get lot and lots more money everytime they host a game than the Gunners.

Sorry see Wigan sliding sown the table at the moment... but with a negative goal difference, it's not hard to understand why
United got a 0-0 at Highbury
Sunderland are good at going down with very little points and coming back up again... any team that loses points against them can consider themselves unlucky.
Chelsea are going to be a big threat in the FA cup this year, they barely have to focus on Premiership
cyfermaster
Jan 4 2006, 06:40 AM
but if they lose focus on the league, they may just lose it. It is highly unlikely that it will happen, but if you lose focus, anything is possible. It has happened before... I think.
