I have it pre-ordered, so I just need to go in and pick up my copy. Likely I will be dead to the world until I finish the book.
How about you guys?
Once I have finished the book I intend to write a full review for w2dmb.za.net. Maybe even a podcast, if Im feeling up to it.

I now have the book just picked it up.
The title: Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince There are 607 pages in it. The blurb reads:
QUOTE
It is the middle of the summer, but there is an unseasonal mist pressing agaisnt the windowpanes. Harry Potter is waiting nervously in his bedroom at the Dursley's house in Privet Drive for a visit from Professor Dumbledore himself. One of the last times he saw the Headmaster was in a fierce one-to-one duel with Lord Voldemort, and Harry can't quite believe that Professor Dumbledore will actually appear at the Dursley's of all places. Why is the Professor coming to visit him now? What is it that cannot wait until Harry returns to Hogwarts in a few week' time? Harry's six year at Hogwarts has already got off to an unusual start, as the worlds of Muggle and magic start to intertwine...

Finished. Im going to read it again. It is the best book I have read by her.
Better than the rest. The first 4 chapters in this book are almost better than the entire Order of the Phoenix.

Straight out of her immagination.
There is no other word like it in the english language that I know of, and I have looked in a few dictionaries.
Capn: addict and proud of it

Yes I've enjoyed quite alot although the first few chapters were a bit boring. The 1st chapter inparticular is -pointless-. Can't wait for the action to heat up though
PS: On 470 now...

Gitano

Never actually thought about it INcin.
Although I admit I am probably wrong, but I have always thought that fanfiction is just a bastardisation of an authors work, and is never any good.
Can you prove me wrong? Im guessing that you do read fan fiction, could you point me in the direction of some decent stuff?
Oh an yes, the last 150 pages, WOW.

Just finished it. Pity about Harry dying like that, I was keen for another adventure.
END!

FishFly: The RRP was actually R250. And I saw in the paper that Exclusive Books were moaning that Pick 'n Pay (where I purchased from on Sat) had under-cut them and taking consumers away!
Well of course you're going to lose out if you're nearly R100 more expensive! (they were selling @ R230)

Driver: thats cruel man
I paid 149 Dirhams for mine, so whats that, about R300? But I got an elite t-shirt that I will never ever wear with it....

Gitano there are a few decent book-length fan fictions out there, I have only read a few. You can try the Psychic Serpent Series(book 5,6,7), The Sword of The Hero(book 5,6), and Power of Time(book 6), I'm sure you'll find them if you google. All these start off exceptionally well but the authors tend to lose focus a little after their first book and start rambling a bit. Give them a go you might enjoy them.

That is extremely true simple_simon, Im know I would enjoy the movies a hell of a lot more if I did not read the books.
