'Tis just an interesting discussion i heard on the radio this morning, and thought i'd put it to the test in a Poll.

Based on experience/viewpoint, do you prefer dating:
If You're A Guy
Afrikaans Girls
or
English speaking Girls

If Your're A Girl
Afrikaans Guys
or
English speaking Guys

Also, give some proper *reasons* as to your preference, please.

There was something similar to this somewhere... I think. At least I know I have said somewhere what I prefer and why. In anycase I prefer to date English speaking Ladies. They don't seem to have mood swings as much as Afrikaans ladies, and are sligtly easier to get on with IMO.

Afrikaans ladies, and I have dated a few, are generally more respectful to the guy, until their mood changes that is.

IMO English girls tend to be very snobbish (i suppose all english people are a bit arrogant)

i seem to have very little in common with afrikaans girls

out of all my english and afrikaans ex's, i enjoyed the english relationships the best, because once you get to know them the snobbishness seems to have toned down (or rubbed off)

in my home town there are a lot of german people, very nice girls, and hot too.

so i suppose : other - german; english; afrikaans

I got 30% lower grade for afrikaans in matric, so yes, English girls all the way for me. Besides theres always some brandy drinking musclehead rubgy jock attatched to the hot afrikaans girls.

I did well in Afrikaans at school, but it's so much easier to talk in English, and I struggle to have a proper conversation in the language, and I'm really forgetful (I've already forgotten most of what I learn) - so based on that, myself with an afrikaans guy, wouldn't work out so good.

One thing I must say about the Afrikaans is that they will normally speak English to you, so you won't need to speak Afrikaans

Yeah, I saw that. I never really looked at it in that way - since I've never had an Afrikaans boyfriend, I can't really speak from experience and say which would be worse. But, I can say which logically wouldn't work, but now I've clearly been proven wrong.

I have never been out with an afrikaans girl, but from the friends I have had, other than the big dad with a shotgun, I dont see too much of a difference.

Not the best thing I must tell you. Some forms of satisfaction only go so far, after that you need more, i.e. Brains.

Afrikaans girls tend to have inflated opinions of themselves. Also, they are MUCH easyer to piss off. And they tend to have brothers in vaster numbers.

Having dated both, I have to say there are pro's and cons, my girlfriends english, but speaks perfect afrikaans.

Afrikaans girls just tend to go for the muscly type guys and don't tend to care about brains, while english girls have their TAB counterparts too.

I don't think that Afrikaans chicks favour brawn over brains... IMO the majority of English chicks I've met tend to do that.


The thing I like about Afrikaans girls are that they are much more tolerant than English chicks. As Ziggy pointed out, Afrikaans girls usually comes with 3 disapproving brothers, which I think is actually a good thing. They are much more used to guy stuff than their English counterparts.

I'm one of those... inconjunction with my younger by 2 years brother, for my sister, 5 years younger than me. Man O man, what fun we have had.

Okay, i must admit also, sometimes my sister has brought the odd one or 2 home that fitted the... call it a jean're <spelling>... we were looking for. But the rest...

It did cause sibling rivalry, but after about 2-3 weeks, my sister NORMALLY came back and saw what, we as brothers pointed out, we didn't like, and she forgave us.

Show me one girl who wouldn't like to have brawn above brain, that also stil has a sosial life - this goes for the girl. Example, the party type will go for brawn, whereas the labratory freaky types will go for brain.

From my experience, AFR girls they tend to compensate more than the english girls, but the biggest test still stays the brothers (or a friend that is like a brother - what aloud of crap) and then the all mighty father...

The polls should've been written differently. I'm pretty sure the majority of people are most comfortable with people who speak their mother tongue. I only speak english but I've gone out with a few afrikaans girl and found their accents start to annoy me over time.
