Whos you favourite South African Band and why?

Mine has got to be ATFN at the moment, Man they rock soo much.

First of all they sound so professional. On thier "Casualitys of Thought" Album they sound world class and makes me proud to be south african when I hear thier music.

They are talented, no doubt about it. All of them know how to use thier instrument and know how to use it well.

Stage performances are great. Every time I see them I think to my self "This is how a band should be on a stage." Lively and energetic. If if you dont like thier music seeing them enjoy thier own music so passionatly is insperational.

Creativity. Ive never heard anything quite like thiers and Its good.

Fusion (Dunno what to call this) They mix, punk, metal, straight up rock and roll into thier music and present it all in a progressive style. Truly amazing.

Havent sold out. They rather call it quits after 7 years then sell out to a big record company.

Lithium. They gave SA rock a kick in the arse back in 1994. They've broken up a while back, but they do the odd reunion gig now and then - awesome music.

Out of the bands that are currently around, the Roswell Kings in Cape Town are HOT, as is Arno Carsten's New Porn.

You will probably all laugh at me, but Just Jinger.

I saw them live here in Dubai in April last year, and to be honest, it was the first time I had heard most of their stuff, I knew one or two songs from the radio and things, but that was it.

There stage presence was amazing, their performance, I think is better than their recorded stuff. Since I have bought their greatest hits album, and their newest one, Bootleg. I love them both, and if you look at my Audioscorbbler profile, you will see they are top top.

The nudies "were" my all time fave SA band but since they split I have to say that Watershed & seether are up there.

I was lucky enough to see the nudies last concert and I get stoked just thinking about it.

They were an awesome rock band. end of story. even though the afrikaans shone on through ( but my boots is still too tight ) they made it in an english music scene.

I saw Just Jinger at the 5fm birthday bash the year that the Nudies split and they gave a helluva performance.

They stage presence is frigging awesome. good band.

Watershed are amazing, I didnt mention them because I believe what makes a really good band is their ability to perform live, and I haven't ever seen them live sad.gif

Yeah i remember those guys, they were quite a kewl band eh? Pity that they have faded away along with other great South african bands!

Anyway my fav SA band is Perez, have always liked those guys, heard them live a good couple a times and they rocked! Prime Circle have a few good songs themselves, Ross has potential but he tends top mimic other singers styles! Oh and Nemesis as well, those fools are on my campus, trying to talk em into doing some diff kinda songs!

Halfprice are my favorite. I've heard a shitload of SA bands, but their probably my favs with Hog Hoggidy Hog at a close 2nd. I dont like the Narrow, they sound too much like Disturbed.
By the way, this site just became super weird

And...
In some time you guys will hear of a band called Stageplant. Theyre all 16/17 years old, but their musical talent is amazing. Their bassist is a beast. I saw them on wednesday for the first time, if you get a chance to see them, dont miss it biggrin.gif
