Welcome back W( at )RP( at )T}{ clap.gif been a while! You must be the happiest person for net-forums changing?

This system is really awesome. I know... I have seen/heard/felt been shaken out my shoes by it!!!
W@RP@T}{
Lol and that was without the Powerfield sub and Polk's, it's ok, getting there slowly LOL
Gitano
System looks amazing!!

Is there really a need for a home theatre forum? I dont see too many posts relating.
Maybe a 'sound technology' sub forum within music for the masses, so that it can incorporate more?
W@RP@T}{
Yea that should be fine smile.gif

I suppose in forums such as these more people are focusing on their comps LOL

hunter
Dude I am SOOOOO glad I dont live next door to you tongue.gif
W@RP@T}{
Lol, the neighbours are pretty far away tongue.gif

But yea already cracked the front window pane, looks like I need thicker glass, I also have bass traps and acoustic panels that I havent installed yet hopefully that will dampen things a little

Could cause a tsunami with that gear! tongue.gif

I can get you some egg boxes if you want? tongue.gif

Guess I will have to come over for lunch to be blown away with the new additions?
W@RP@T}{
Lol Cyfer, yea these polks are pretty impressive. Was going to build an AV soundproofed room but lack of cash put a hold on that, I will be bashing a wall or two to convert my lounge into a AV room tongue.gif

This stuff is fun but it can make you poor very very quickly if your not careful
Gitano
But hey, poorly and happy = no problem!

Poorly + unhappy because your stuff isnt as good as you want it = sad.gif

I want to hear this stuff!
But I better not get involved in these things, because Im not even working yet, so Ill be poor very very very quickly.
Oops, too late wink.gif

Lol there is always this no matter what it sounds like, your always going for the next biggest etc. room acoustics, power distribution, RCA upgrades optical upgrades it never ends.

I know a guy that spent R50000 on 2x 1m cables for his front main speakers.

Agreed, but I can still see you doing something like that a couple months down the line when you got nothing else you want to get... come to think of it... there is always something else you want... and you always seem to find the bagains... biggrin.gif
W@RP@T}{
Lol the bagains :o I would say I have spent a shiteload on my kit, bagain or not tongue.gif
Gitano
What the hell is so special about those cables??
R50,000!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
W@RP@T}{
Have no idea they are about 2inches thick with a massive brick looking thing in the middle of the cable

Think they were the top MIT terminator series

im also using some MIT terminator cabling although mine is nowhere near the top of the range - i have termnator MIT T2 biwired speaker wires that cost around 5 to 7 grand and mit T3 interconnects which cost around R1500 for my Hi-Fi - the brick like thing that you talk about is a zobel network and it adjusts speaker and source impedances to be evenly matched as possible

MIT is great cable and it makes a massive difference to the quality of your sound even if you are not a cable fan - i couldnt afford to use MIT on my home theatre cos the 30 metres x 2 that would be required for the rear speakers will probably bankrupt me especially if i had to also use it to make the setup 7.1 - then yep the cost of cables alone would easilly come to around 60 to 70 grand

Gitano - the guys who can afford to will use the best possible cables that they can - and yes when i go to a krell setup then i will surely stick to MIT since i have already experienced how lifelike and transparent the sound is with those - when you get into this thing as a hobby then you wont mind spending on it in the same way guys spend on benching computers - and i was into sound way before i got to the computers thus sound will always remain my primary interest - though the surround sound doesnt interest me so much as does stereo sound - hence i wont spend as much as W( at )RP( at )T}{ on the surround aspects - but i will indulge in spending a mini fortune in a good stereo Hi-Fi when i have the space for it

but anyways im sure ive said this before but thats a really nice setup there Rob and i hope that you are enjoying it
