okay - heres the skinny - i still havent cleaned it up yet - and have to polish it and theres still wire pieces floating around everywhere but this is a teaser of the final product which is gonna be all shiny and cleaned up and really neat

some of the pics were from the phonecam and some were done with a great camera and reduced in size - so sorry for the quality of the phonecams ones

user posted image

this is the amprack covered in vinyl with the amp screwed in place - the top of amp rack is what was in the old setup but the bottom bit was rebuilt since the old one was too short

user posted image

this shows the holes for the wiring leading down to the bottom of the amprack - notice individual grommets for each hole

user posted image

this is the sidepanels from the old install - i still reused these since there was nothing wrong with them - all i had to do was pull out the carpet and then plane/sand these down with an orbital sander (took many hours to remove all the glue and get these flat enough - cos vinyl shows all the imperfections)

continued from above

user posted image

building the box - notice that the box is in two compartments - there is a partition between the two sides which gives each subwoofer its own sealed enclosure

user posted image

here you can see the front added to the box and the rear is sloped to follow the natural angle of the seat - also other experimental boxes can be viewed and a really "busy" work area (euphimism for dirty LOL)

user posted image

completed box with speaker holes cut - and ready to begin the really messy sanding and planing process - the vinyl needs a flat as possible surface to prevent showing imperfections

now heres the good pics taken by newgimmer from the speed and sound forums whilst at the autostyle competition this weekend

user posted image

the power and ground distribution and fuse blocks - i still need to put in one more cable into the power section - initially it will be a dummy - but later will power a capacitor

user posted image

heres a good shot of the amp - you can see the expensive RCA cables on the left hand side of the amp - all the rca's put together cost almost twice what the head unit cost

user posted image

HHMMMM - BOY big subs - 2 x 12" JL AUDIO 12w0-4 subwoofers - and you can see the passive crossovers of the jensen split set which is being used for the rear fill - notice the full vinyl install - also took many many hours of hard and sweaty work
naughty

All I can say about your setup is DAMN AWESOME Stuff!!!!!!!!

I would have skimped on the RCA's a little AudioQuest is awesome stuff though!!!

Would have gone with something other than Jensen as well the rest is awesome!!!! WD Naughty

Well you know we had a run in in the golf forum? LOL ...... I ended up buying a VW Polo lol lol lol lol rifle.gif king.gif yea you guys can say told you so.......

Still think the normal golfs are shit buy my new baby I am pretty impressed with (pic included)

I may install my sound in it tomorrow.

So far.....

Leaving deck as standard (deck with 6 disk CD Player (hope its got RCA's on it)

All Audiophile stuff:

2X Zapco Amps. 1x monoblock 1x stereo amp for front splits

front 5 1/4" Dynaudio splits (go for around 7K if you can find them) Is 5 1/4 correct for polo 2-door?

Rear shelf will have my Carbon Earthquake focal 6.2 splits.

Sub will be the pro series JL Audio W10

What do you think? I want SQ more than SPL.

W( at )RP( at )T}{ - your stuff should sound great - my car just got smashed 2 weeks back so my setup is no more - im gonna go far better than this in my new lot - im just lucky my equipment didnt get too damaged in the accident - but it was a back smash so basically my install is trashed

only one thing in terms of your setup - if you are using a single 10 inch sub and using jl audio then id go for the 10w6 rather than any other jl sub - that in terms of price to performance rocks - its almost as good as the 10w7 (top of the range) at a far lower price

also for your rear splits are you using earthquake or focal - i know the earthquake boys as well as the focal distributors - i can get those for nice prices and focal is world class stuff ............ also about the dynaudio - those are made for home audio usage thus its very difficult to get 4 ohm drivers - but if you are looking in that range - you should look at DLS which has a car audio range of similiar quality drivers - the three way set is excellent with a 24db/oct crossover and sealed unit midrange and tweeters (wont need a box) thus you can position those anywhere in your vehicle

well you are entitled to your opinion - but most guys on the road drive like pricks so its not worth buying good cars (one of those pricks smashed my car last week) - im prolly gonna ttrade my chico in for a velociti even though i can afford an R32 when its released - main reason being is that if anyone smashes that ill probably shoot him and land up in jail thus not enjoy my car - but a cheapie like a golf you can laugh about it when its smashed

a little off topic, but Golf's are great cars to experiment with, the entire interior can be removed with extreme ease. Personally i think new Golfs are like having a velvet toolbox, well as far as my Golf usage goes anyway. smile.gif

I plan to put my (planned) sound setup in a Golf aswell, not many people want to start modding a "nice" car.

Hopefully i can somehow stop the desire after i start unlike some people (no need to mention names im sure). smile.gif

Looking pretty neat, naughty.

If I may ask, how much that setup cost so far?

Hey Naughy

The Dynaudio are car specific tongue.gif http://www.dynaudiousa.com/products/car/2way.htm

They are awesome speakers

The Earthquakes are the Earthquake Focus 6.2 Carbon fibre splits.

JL Audio Sub (not sure which model)

1X Zapco Studio 100 monoblock running the sub

1X Zapco Studio 150 Stereo amp running the DynAudios

Took my car into get it installed on Sat 11:30 (what a nighmare, what a stuffup) 6 Hours later and they had only installed the DynAudios in the fron doors, never mind the crossovers and tweeters sad.gif

my radio is now sticking out the dash, I had to install the amp myself, they ran power to the back of the headunit. Could cry at what a stuffed up job they did. Cash is short now so gonna wait till I have a few more bucks and then going to take it to CCR or PPSound. Not going back there for any chance of them stuffing up anymore!!!

On a plus side it is actually sounding very very good punk.gif
W@RP@T}{
Forgot....... Condolences to your car Naughty sad.gif
Mandarb
Where'd you go to for the install W( at )RP( at )T}{? So that the people can avoid it in the future.
W@RP@T}{
AudioCity in the highgate shopping center, I have dealt allot with them and get really good prices, bought a 42" plasma from them on the Friday so thought I woulld take my car there to keep the relations strong smile.gif

Cant suggest them on installations, on buying stuff they are highly regarded
cyfermaster
Me thinks you should come pick me up. Drive me to your house playing some music. That way my ears are warmed up by the time I listen to the HT. biggrin.gif

Sorry bout the car Naughty sad.gif

LOL actually they are fast workers - my setup took me over a month of work - but i was only working on it around three hours a day - if i worked flat out it still would have been about two weeks

rurounikenshin
Awesome as usual!

Would expect nothing less from you Naughty!

My sound is going to be the last thing to go into my project golf.

I await updates with great anticipation!

rurounikenshin
*bump*
naughty
ruro - i havent managed to complete the setup due to my accident around 4 weeks back - the car will only be back from the panel beaters in around two weeks time - and the sound is all lying in my passageway

the box will need to be completely rebuilt since the impact opened it all up and now it vibrates completely when a bass note is played - so im gonna need to redo loads of stuff

but i will update when its all done though due to all the unforeseen circumstances it will probably be closer to the end of the year when i complete it
rurounikenshin
Damn! Forgot about that.

My bad!
Fishfly
At least yuor system hasn't been damaged... I'd crying.gif if that had to happed biggrin.gif
