Don't you just hate it when this happens, and you must pay your account before you get a fine for paying late...

some technical issues can't be avoided. One of the RAID arays might have failed or a network card might have died. It doesn't necessarily mean that their customer service is bad, since the two issues are not related.

Been with Standard for a while and had no problems. Branch is 180km away so this is the best option. "gvdwest" is right, automatic payment option helps alot, especially in December.

Standard and FNB are better than the rest. I have never had a problem with Standard.

yea just a quick warning for new standard bank clients...
make sure they activate internet banking and everything's sorted before you leave the branch.
I struggled for 2 hrs today to get it activated.

True... also struggled with that.
Make sure you can access any linked accounts you might have through internet banking and set all your limits (daily, monthly etc.) before you leave the branch.

You have to realise what the annual costs are for exactly though, then you will accept paying it.
The annual charge covers fraud. That alone is enough for me to pay the yearly R100 for my cc/petro card. The petro cards come with alot of benefits like if you lock your keys they send a locksmith, if you run out of petrol they will come help with up to R50 worth of petrol, towing services, etc etc.
I am with FNB though, so im not 100% sure if standard bank and absa offer the same services.

i don't think sb offers all that, but the difference between the gold and my current card was basically a larger travel insurance
