I have never had a problem with Spar,until now!I will do my best never to buy anything from them(well atleast the local Spar) all because of one incident!

Yesterday my mom sends me to go buy dog-food and the newspaper.I hopped in the car and went down to the local Spar.I paid for the newspaper and the dog-food and decided i wanted to top-up my airtime.

They have one of those machines where you choose what airtime you want,pay and then prints a slip with the info on.I accidently pressed the R29 button,instead of the R55 button.Now that wasnt a big problem because I hadnt put any money in.All I needed to do was reset/cancel the machine and then press the R55 button.But I couldnt find the damn cancel/reset button,my eyes are crap so and I wasnt wearing my glasses,plus I was in a hurry.So I ask the lady at the counter how I cancel it,as I ask I hear this voice with a foreign accent behind me."Didnt joo go to school...huh...huh.....joo poosh dis botton.Can't joo read...joo idiot?Read...read....read!" pointing his fingers all over the place as he attacked me.(He said alot more but I was so pissed off I wasnt listening properly)

I was shocked!I was like wtf...Im sure the customer shouldnt be treated like this.I was even more shocked because I knew that the guy who so rudely attacked me was the owner .I never done anything wrong,just asked for help.

After a few 'bad' words in the direction of the owner I walked out and bought my airtime at the garage around the corner.

Generally speaking, Spar is a good shopping chain. I have never had problems.

If you dont hear frm them, consider sending a letter to the editor of your local paper and make the Spar people aware of what you will do. (state in letter).

I would've made a HUGE scene in the store. Would've made sure everyone knew what was happening.

I like to tell ppl working places that before I blast their kak service infront of every one.

You can also write a complaint at www.hellopeter.com. Which Spar? I want to make a note so that I do not have to go there.

Blackmail or bribe the owner and tell him that you can cause serious damage to his business... no just joking

Customers shouldn't be treated this way. I had a similar experience with a Checkers branch a few years ago... too bad they have been declared bancrupt a few months ago

Its a spar in Randfontein(greenhills spar) so doubt you would ever go there.

We've had some pretty crappy service at the checkers near my mother in law and don't use them if we can help it. There are a number of places that we seldom use cos of this kinda attitude.

The only spar that has ever impressed me was the one in Balito. The rest of them suck. I usually do my shopping at Checkers / Shoprite, Woolworths or Pick 'n Pay.

Best Spar I've been to = Spar in Fourways. :nice:

Worst Pick 'n pay = Norwood on a Saturday month end

Woolworths is still the best

Pity I can't say the service is good anywhere... damn ppl so slow
