Well lets take a closer look at what takes place when a government is overthrown:

1) There is general anarchy - the old power base is gone, and the new one is still establishing itself. (The economy is hurt)
2) Supporters of the old power base clash with supporters of the new (The economy is maimed)
3) We have a loverly civil war (The economy is shot in the kneecaps)
4) Various splinter factions polarise around would-be warlords, each claiming his right to rule.
5) Infrastructure and Agriculture fail due to war, famine sets in
6) War, is an unhealthy business, as the wounded and dying numbers escalate, the few hospitals still in operation are over-flooded, and Pestilence puts puts his feet up and has a beer with Famine. (The economy is ow sitting in an urn next to grandma on the fireplace BTW)

And in addition to this we have crime, looting, loss of homes/lives, ethnic cleansing and all-out loss of peace happening in the background.

No, I'm no fan of the current government, they are greedy self-centred bastards, but at least the don't drive tanks through the streets and shoot people based on their ethnic affiliations.
So yar, lets keep 'em until we can dispose of 'em peacefully.

It still is a stupid question to ask anybody on a forum, because obviously it would stir debate into the cause of the two options. The answers of people in such a debate would be pointless and they won't really give a straight answer, plus if they do, then they would only create friction with some of the members who is of the ethnicity under discussion here.

This really would be a big f***ing shame and would tarnish the whole image of the forums, leading to fewer new members joining and some of the members leaving the forums for good. The picture/avatar/smilie next to the topic name is that of a very angry face and indicates to me that the member is angry when he/she made the post and not just looking for any opinion other than a predetermined one which the member already have in mind. Therefor this member might be seeking for support in that regard.

That is of course just my opinion on the matter, since the topic is still open.

I was at the Para Battalion during the elections, we were on full alert because the army thought the AWB would try and overthrow the government (some officers were ready to join them)

Nothing happen .... we had to stay in camp for no reason at all.

At best, a group consisting of white and black people will be able to successfully overthrow the government and then enforce the law like it should be , then nobody will care, and SA will be hopefully a better place to live.

the thing that does concern me is that many people are losing faith in democracy in SA. besides the usual problems, which really in the bigger picture are not as bad as civil war or anything, the current floor-crossing nonsense is really pathetic.

i know i won't be voting in the next elections. i see no point in wasting an hour of my time just to get my thumb-nail painted and to place a cross next to some party, whose member will move over to another which I didn't vote for.

Every day you read about every other polititian going to court for this crime and that. Biggest of all old Winnie. And to top it off they are still in government. And us the taxpayer have to pay them..... The floor crossing I belive is a big conspiricy... Bribes must have been made for it all to happen. And big ones at that.

I am not into politics much but I believe that Nelson handed over to the wrong person. Nelson made a good leader but Mbeki doesn't know much about his job. His followers have blinkers over their eyes. And the criminals are milking his failure.

Yeah they were arrested on a farm about 50 kilos from here I believe. Was in a town called Memel. About 10 kilo's from the Natal border. The place is so small and way behind I saw a newspaper board with the latest news headlines from the early 80's....

As far as the government goes, I must admit, it could be much worse. Lately they've done some unusally good work. And I honestly feel we're heading in the right direction. My only concern are those damn unions - COSATO and co. Man, they really know how fuck things up. Whats really strange is that I think the ANC is slowly losing power to other parties like the IFP, UDM and DA. We're hearing more and more often how the ANC isn't doing the things they said they would by those who voted them in. The other day in fact, this poor (I mean not wealthy) black guy came up to me started talking to me, we got into this whole long story about how he was robbed and stabbed and how he voted the ANC in but the healthcare system is worse and they won't give him grants or something and so on. I also think many are pissed at his Nivurapine policy (which I'm for by the way, I thinks something the government tried to do right). But all in all, I think we're heading in the right direction, and I look forward to next few years in great anticipation.

Bottom line, our government is not the best, and it may not even be good, but it's better than our neighbours and it is improving. A stupid racially motivated revolt is pointless and doomed to failure in the long run at least. -_-

What crap, read the news paper, 9 out of 10 times nothing but the farmers gun and 4X4 is stolen.
The 4X4 is then most of the times found again left on the side of the road.

Soudh Africa could be a lot worse off but that is no reason to accept shit. Our problem can be summed up in one word EDUCATION. The thing is that take your average black person ages 20-35. They gbew up with no or minimal education. They grew up in a era of oppression and hate. They were fed propaganda about the new era ect... and it hasn't come.

I agree with the statements about unions. I'm sorry but the average uneducated person doesn't realise where money comes from. The govement can't jsut create it. Also I look at a lot of things like goverment. The only people who have any sort of education in goverement gained it dogily. I mean our minister of health wouldn't know the first thing about medicine ect... All we lack at the moment are people trained for the job.

But there is progress. Look at the news, five years ago we were treated to news reporters who couldn't string a full sentance together without pausing. Meanwhile we had other people at the time who could have done the job better. Look at the news now however. Not A grade but our news reporters are better.

You can't accelrate change or force it. Sadly. Quota systems don't work. You have to employ on merit. It is a bit unbalanced at the moment cause the education system favoured us. But it is slowly correcting itself.
