Okay, so I got this 6 speakers playing from my computer through an amp. Now these six speakers were bought in pairs of 2, witch means 3 pairs of different speakers. The one set of speakers witch contain a tweeter and a woofer is supposed to add some bass to my sound.

Now i'm having ALOT of distortion from one of these "bass" speakers if I add some treble. So I opened the faulty one and tested the tweeter (obviously I thought, its when I add treble), only to find that it is the woofer that causes the distortion.

So first I check the foam (not sure what to call it) that surrounds the moving part of the woofer, thinking that is might have been played to hard and had tear off. But everything still looks perfect.

Can someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with this freaking speaker? I am so frustrated, and my sound is kak without it.

thanks,

Speaker sience or whatever you wanna call it is much more difficult than just do this and that.

You will never get the performance you want if you just slap 6 speaker on an AMP and hope for the best. Read up on the web, there is ALLOT of science involved!

The tweater on a bass speaker? Are you using the speaker as a woofer? Then remove the tweaters all together.

:/

no im not plugging it in a sub woofer's plug, its just the pair of speakers that has the most bass and is therefore most needed.

and as i said, its not the tweeter giving me problems

Okay, sorry, misread that... ermm.gif

A quick test to see if a speaker is "blown out" or not. Take a 9V battery and bridge the + and - poles to the speakers + and - terminals.
Sommer use a paper clip or something to make a connection, not a solid connection, just fasten one end (say - to - , polarity is unimportant in speakers, but to explain better do as I say) and strike the other end to the speaker terminal (eish, a picture would explain a 1000 words about now). If there is a solid clear thump each time you strike the + and + together then the speaker is a-okay. If there is distortion or no thumb, then you need to get yourself a new speaker.

well, i dont have a 9v battery right now. but would it help if I tell you that the woofer plays fine until I increase the volume (quite high) and even then it plays but only dustorted with a cracking sound...

thanks
