Out if curiosity I'd like to know how many people name their cars.

It seems to me this is less common then it used to be.

mostly because cars, nowadays, are more appliances than something to be passionate about.
you still do get the odd enthusiast who will give their car a pet name for the sake of either nostalgia or to differentiate between their favourite car and one of their other cars

case in point: a guy i know has a highly modified german sedan which he affectionately labelled "brutus" as a reflection of its performance. ditto for his other "toy".

this is not to say that i'm any less passionate about my car/future vehicles than he is. i'll just get a prn and people will know :)

i still do it. it mostly makes me remember my cars with fond, warm fuzzy memories
and somehow i tend to refer to my cars on their names and totally confuse the ppl that don't know the names yet.

My car is pineapple yellow, so my mates dubbed it 'The Canary Mobile' It gives it character!

a couple of my mates and i desided to name our cars so now there is "Casper diep Fries" "Sarel" and "Crumpet"

My wife likes to name the cars but i never really payed much attention to it....

I tend to find its usually the older generation [ie parents and up] who name their cars [eg. A red mazda named funnily enough 'Rosie' by my Mother]

I tend to stick to the ubiqitous "f#ck!n piece of crap.. etc etc".

well... I used to call me Beemer "Baby"
that was BEFORE I got married...
now my wife's "Baby" and the car is "mah biatch"
funny how that happens... ;-)

LOL Zenith. As long as you don't use the same naming convention if you have a baby - New child = Baby, Wife = ?

My first car was used to be called "ICE CUBE" back in school.

My friend calls his Polo Playa "Baby G" (short for baby Golf)

I call my corolla Attie....no reason why really :/

i call our cars by there colour. exp Lets go with the "rooikar"

I call mine Jade....cause she be green.

A friend wanted me to call her Cosmo....cause it made her think of aliens and space and stuff. Still debating that one.
