i'm looking for an athlon64 3400+ 1024k cache with a cg stepping.
the best way to identify it is to download cpu-z > run it and check the first page.
cpu-z is attached below.
if you find you have a cg 3400+ or 3200+ please let me know where you got it. i need it specifically because i will be able to use a 2T command rate on my memory which i will need to get a decent cpu overclock.

thanks to all detectives

if your willing to pop in to storgate jhb i'm sure they will show you the chips enigma. if you do i will order for you at cost price. i think the ones with AR in the first line were CG's all along

AllBrain. do you have the cpu's codes handy???
AllBrain
You know what, I never even bothered writing them down. I think Solo might still have the codes.
solo
I might still have it somewhere. If I do Ill edit this post tonight with the codes.

i'll go home and look at what i have under the hood of my other athlon64 box. maybe enigma and i can get together to coax the chips into running a bit faster.

yeah, its only the AP's that were C0's afaik.

my current clawhammer seems to be a pretty damn good overclocker so it would be a hell of a risk to sell it, lose money in buying a new one (assuming there are CG steppings) and getting a worse overclocker to boot sad.gif

my current clawhammer maxes out at around 2.87Ghz at 1.7v, so ireckon i can get easily over 3Ghz with 1.9v or so at my disposal - there arent many 3Ghz clawhammers out there that arent cascade cooled so i reckon that my cpu is a keeper - just need 1 stick of 256Mb bh-5 as benching ram i suppose smile.gif

But it's the 3500 socket 939 version. I got it at Rectron, though. Not sure if it'll help.

hey gav. sup?

my rig works great, but i'm not into the benchmarking thing. requires too much money to "get anywhere"
i'll be content with my stock 12700 3dmarks :(
unless you're willing to donate some time and advice :P
AllBrain
What 6800 Ultra is that? Me thinks it is Leadtek.

Hmmmmm just noticed in your pic, looks like something strange going on there, a 3500+ running at 1GHZ 5x multiplier?

i know how you feel about the damn benchmarking thing, i've been trying to get out of it for a while now but i can never stay out of it too long before i get sucked back sad.gif

it is becoming a major financial drain though so i'll get my system sorted and then probably just leave it for a while and enjoy it for a change smile.gif

i'm always willing to donate some time and advice wink.gif

Please read the topic people! It says Clawhammer with CG stepping. Not Newcastle with CG stepping. biggrin.gif

That is correct. With the new chipsets (NF3 250 & K8T800 Pro) the hypertransport link speed was increased from 800MHz to 1000MHz (5x) for S939. Some of the S754 boards with the new chipsets will also allow you to run at 5x as well even though technically speaking the CPU's don't support it.

Mine was running 5X got the K8T800 Pro chipset on my 754 had to drop to 4X when pushing the FSB to 250 though, it was still running fine at 5X but my 9800XT kept disabling the 3D got that VPU recover screen all the time when ramping up FSB
