Welcome to the White Tiger oil field in Vietnam. Observe the truly amazing oil flares, in an area the Americans officially declared 'barren' of oil reserves !
looks like SA could be saving a lot of money. anyone know somebody in the local oil business? how much does SA spend on oil. anyone know?

OK. But the thing is, we don't want more oil. If we have a unlimited source of oil, half of the motivation for developing cleaner fuel sources dissapears. Which means more polution.

yea that's totally true. but at least we could spend the savings on developing alternative fuel instead of our enriching our suppliers. our current account deficit is bad enough without having to pay $50/barrel to somebody else for oil. also high oil cost is slowing growth and increasing inflation.
