I didn’t think much when I first heard about today’s wildlife documentary on SABC 3, “5 Big Cats And One Camera”. After all, I am more of a fan of the insect documentaries, seeing that insects are basically living in their own world, but damn, I am glad that I watched today’s show, or else I would have missed out on some of the most memorable moments ever caught on video.

I especially loved the stuff they caught at night and also that one piece where that on cat jumps a few feet into the air to nab that stork… awesome stuff indeed.

Last week’s “Animal Games” was also pretty interesting – getting to see how animals/insects/amphibians/reptiles would square up at their own Olympics.

As far as wildlife documentaries go, it is a case of BBC & National Geographic > *

Yeah I think BBC takes the prize for wildlife programs, how the manage to get the cameras so close I dunno. I really think some of the things they show are either staged or CGI, in any case its edutainment so its all good smile.gif

With the insect stuff, they do put in some sfx, but the animal stuff is pretty legit.

Speaking of close-ups, that moegoe cameraman should have zoomed out a bit - spoiled some kills by being too close in on the action. mellow.gif
