So there I am reading that Doom3 has gone gold and shift to Kalahari.net and see that they're doing pre-orders...
Faster than you can say shotgun I'm busy ordering Doom3.
All goes well till I get to the payment page...
And there is only ONE method of payment... credit card...
Now I'm not saying that credit card payment is bad it's just that I like to personally pay for all of my purchases via online deposite... as in transfer the money straight into thier bank account. That way I know where, when and how they got thier money.
... I don't have a credit card... don't ask.
So I email them with my problem. Don't get any reply in an hour go back to the store and think to myself that surely I'm having a retard day so let me read the help for a change. A what do I find...
a link to the payment section...
and all methods of payment are there... wOOt!!!!!
And like Capt. Picard I make it so!
Boom money transfered email sent to kalahari showing them I've paid and will wait nicely at the door for the Berco Express guys to show up.
That was at 12:00 on 2004/07/28

..
...
So I'm out of the office Thurs and Fri stop in at the office on Sun to check up on some things.
and there in my inbox sits 2 emails waiting to fsck me over.
The first reads like this:
QUOTE
This email is just to let you know that we had to cancel your pre-order for the "Doom 3" software.

Pre-orders can only be paid with a credit card. Due to an IT site error you were able to place a pre-order by selecting the Bank deposit payment option.

We will reserve the credit on your profile, please inform us about your banking details.

Please place a new pre-order online by making a credit card payment.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused in this regard.

and the other reads:
QUOTE
Credit card payment is the only payment method that we accept when using our pre ordering system, however I suggest that you place the item into your wish list.
We will in return notify you via email once stock has been received.

I've already "wished" for it!!!!!!!!!!
It's now here and I want it!!!!!!!!

Can anyone expalin to me why the kalahari.net has focused some of it's ass-raping actions on me????

I want to buy this game legally.
This is why piracy does so well...

Am I the only one to get fscked over by kalahri.net dots.gif

that statement relates to a lot of things, banking especially, doing everything legitimatly is such a pain in the ass most of the time, they're pathetic, i hope you've sent them somthing about that.
SystemLord
Oh yeah I've email them enough for today.
Just wait till I get back into the office tomorrow... then it's round me again. batman.gif

I imagine that they only use credit cards for pre-orders as then they can take the money once they can deliver it. like if u ordered half-life last year sep you would still be waiting for it but they would have been earning interest on your money.
SystemLord
I kinda understand but it still sucks ass! rifle.gif
And yet again I would like to stress the fact that I don't have a credit card.
You'll think that they would have a way to allow for people who don't have a credit card to pre-pay for pre-orders omg3.gif
hikizume
also, since you have already paid, and it was their stuff up, you think they could make an exception.
Surge
Just for interests sake, I know that ABSA has a system whereby you can make online purchses in a credit card fashion, without having a credit card, but I am sketchy on the whole thing, so maybe you can give them a call to find out if you wanna.

Edit... seeing that they made a stuff up, ask for your money back - with interest! devil2.gif
blood105
preorders mean no more than the first lot of orders they attend to.
as soon as the game is available from their suppliers they will be able to take your money

Money isn't as such the problem. When I "pre-ordered" they had a competition/draw whereby I could maybe stand a change of winning a shinny new ATI display card, that and the fact I WANT DOOM3!

Try to understand why piracy works:
It's kinda organised crime, you screw up and violence will be introduced to you cos you've got clients to supply, you're not meeting demand and bringing money into the "family".

Should kalahari.net really care about me??? They think not.
Should software pirates care about me??? They don't like violence displayed on themselfs shuriken.gif , so I'll go with a kinda yes. beer.gif

There must be some way of getting it publicised, hehe, that'll show em' They screw you over, you screw em' over...

I too had problems with Kalahari.net. I bitched and bitched to em' eventually they just credit you, so i bought something else and don't ever want to do business with the bitches again.
THE SAiNT
Forget about Kalahari *bushman toungue sound* net
Go here and enjoy. I have never had any problems with them and I do all my buying by means of bank transfer. They sometimes just take a while to deliver though. Hope this helps.
Chatsubo
I was just as upset about them not allowing me to pay by bank xfer. So, I'm gonna get up real early on sat, 14 Aug. Head down to the mall and buy my copy there. (If there are any left....)

Screw Kalahari.net, I'm never using them again.

like its been explained already, the reason kalahary only accepts credit cards for pre-orders is because they only bill you once the product ships, so they have to do a credit card transaction. also, if the price of the product changes between the time you pre-order and the time it is released, then you'd be stuck if you made a bank xfer - either you paid too much and need a refund, or you paid too little and need to make another payment. the reason i preorder stuff is so that i know i've ordered it, and i just have to wait for it to arrive at my doorstep... i dont want to have to muck about with the order afterwards.

A month ago ordered 2 books and Half-life from them. They delivered the game and 1 book in under a month, while the 3rd book had to be ordered from the US.... because of the delay they gave me a bag of microwave popcorn biggrin.gif

Everyone gets a bag of popcorn with an order from them!

Hi All,
Sorry about the lack of an update but work's had me buried under 49tons of deadlines.

Who cares about the popcorn??? I know I don't cos that's not what will fix up the degrading service.

I spoke to a supervisor who explained to me that they, Kalahari, process the order immediately so the money comes off your account. beuges, that diffs from what you've stated. Does that then mean that they don't understand how their owe system works???
Also it seems I've being the only person who's being able to do a per-order and pay via bank deposite. The way it was explained to me is that it's a "bug" alien.gif in thier system that they've being trying to trace for a couple of months already. After I directed the person over the phone on how I did it... the responce I got was OMG!!!!! The woman over the phone couldn't believe how easy it was for me to do what I did. She must of first thought I was some underground 1337 hacker 2guns.gif ... BUT the truth be told all I did was to read thier help on payments at the bottom of the page. So all I was doing was using a "feature". whistling.gif

they take authorisation on your credit card as soon as you place the pre-order, but they only debit your account when the order is shipped.

believe me, i have placed many preorders on kalahari in the past, as well as on amazon.co.uk.

and i wouldnt place too much faith in the supervisor or anyone else at the call centers (no offense sadistic lobotomy smile.gif ). you'll be surprised at how many support people have no clue about the systems they support.
SystemLord
Yeah I kinda thought the sup was smoking some wired shit when the pre-order thing was explained to me.

My friends, in South Africa we are so used to being screwed over by companies like Kalahari.net that we bitch & moan, rant & rave but a few days/weeks/months later we are back at their doorstep begging for more of the same shit service.

Have you ever walked into a store, saw something VERY nicely priced went to the till to pay and have the person tell you, "sorry for the inconvenience but the item was wrongly priced and therefore we can't sell it to you"? Nope, doesn't happen. It does not even happen at Kalahari.net, they rather just cancel the order on your behalf and don't notify you of it. When you ask them what the hell is going on they come up with the lame excuse "The suppliers are out of stock" Bullshit!

A friend of mine ordered a DVD series from Amazon.co.uk. When it arrived it had 1 DVD missing and there was 2 of another one. He phoned them up and without asking any further questions they sent him the same item priority mail. Not, the missing DVD but the whole box set! How's that for service! javascript:emoticon(':notworthy:')

We need to force these bastards to give us better service, we are the consumers. We don't exist because of them, they exist because of us.
