Like your taste Wanted. Nothing beats vinyl IMO. I`m into:

Ambient:

David Holmes
Tricky Sample
Nightmares on Wax
Thievery Corporation Sample
Kruder and Dorfmeister Sample
Tosca
Coldcut
The Dining Rooms
Chicane Sample

Dance:

Goldfrapp
Solid Sessions
DJ's @ Work
Tiesto
Kosheen
Simon Dunmore

There`s a whole lot more but I`m too tired right now to name them all and the searching for the above links took over an hour to find. Guess you can see I`m on my last legs as far as dance/house/trippy goes with all the old stuff I listed above...now moving into the Ambient phase.

EDIT: Admins all th above links are 100% legal.

My brother arrived back from the UK on Friday with a little gem I had asked him to get for me.

Lisa Pin-Up & Caroline Banx - Hard House Anthems 5, off the Nukleuz label.

user posted image

If you like it hard this one will blow you away. I thought 4 was good, but this takes it to a new level. Caroline Banx does not give you a breather, its hard arse tunes all the way.

Review here

I am a very happy man.

Heh, I got Balance 006 by Anthony Pappa. paid R250 for it too. I can definitely say it was worth the price.

The first cd is very chilled breakbeats (think Luke Chabel and tim fretwell). What was awesome about this album was that it kept pace throughout the album and didn't bore me in any instance, with pappa using extremely smooth mixing and his top-class use of sound effects throughout the first cd. I won't go into specifics about each track as i know squat all about the production of alot of those tracks, but it would suffice to say that it's a very cool cd. Buy the compilation just for the cd if you're into prog breaks. It ends off a little harder than the rest of the album with Tilt's 'I know your Afraid'. A beautiful release.

the second cd on the other hand starts quite alot faster than the first CD, and actually slows down to the last few tracks. Anthony Pappa also uses his mixing style and sound effects to add spice to this album. Again I can't go into specifics, but it's not an relentless album. Make no mistake it has the energy, but it's no Nukleuz release. There were a few of progressive staple artists on the album including Quivver, Pig & Dan (been listening to their submission sets, awesome biggrin.gif), moonface (think global underground). Also a very James Holden-sounding Ozgur Can - Connected (one of the best tracks on the album). I also loved the pr0n samples used in 'All I wanna do' by Rhythym Unlimited.

I haven't heard Balance 005, but there's no doubt in my mind I'm getting it biggrin.gif

erm. pietertjie; just a suggestion here -- alot of those artists' productions were quite cheesy. Try getting into artists like Green Martian or Robert Gitelman if you really like trance.

not my cup of tea really, I found myself enjoying DJ Manuel Oettel's Perfecto release though.

Question to you all who are into live sets:

I've got live sets and started making cue sheets. I'll list them here if necessary.

Also, getting ADSL quite soon so if I don't have any sets I'm willing to download and make them on request.

EDIT: Making a new topic on this.

Very interesting site bergie...i shall be checking out some of the goodies there biggrin.gif

EDIT:

Instead of double posting I decided to say I just got Zabiela's Alive. This album totally rocks, CD 1 starts off typically zabiela with loops, scratches and effects you'd expect him to use in an intro. The disc takes a little long to build up, but it livens up towards the end. The first disc's style is a little overused and cheesy in parts, but the last bits of the disc are quite good, particularly when he drops some progressive breaks on track 9.

CD 2 on the other hand is the better of the two, starting fairly calm with a typical zabiela intro and a remix done by himself. It quickly moves on to some funky sounds from track 4 before he brings on the ACID in a big way. The disc builds up hard and fast from around track 7 onwards where it ends off with a very beautiful Childhood Montage by BT....

The loops, scratches and fx in general are used beautifully on this album (and in the man's true genius style), and mixing is flawless. Although it's nothing compared to some of the live sets i've heard from him it does show you a good sample of what he's capable of. And it's well worth a purchase, even if just for CD 2 biggrin.gif

Track List as follows:

Just listened to Apoptygma Berzerk - Until the End of the World [Dark Club Mix] and younger brother - the finger.

Nothing inspiring I must say, I prefer songs that have extra helpings of bass. Little chirps and whistles with a fairground music feel doesn't really do it for me Im afraid.

Any other suggestions guys?

Edit:
