OK, this is just ri-goddam-diculous.

Out of 22 swearwords only 3 are filtered.
Bear in mind that these are just words that I thought of, from the top of my head. I daren't think what kind of obscenities could be thought up by some shallower beings.

Admins, please be advised to add these words and any other possible permutations to the swear filter - as this is not the kind of language that we want our innocent little kids to read.
While we're at it - get some NetNanny banner adverts to enforce SAFE SURFING.

Just a side thought; replace the words with * symbols instead of the rather daft [norty word] replacement which is currently in place.
If we have kids browsing here, we want them to learn how to spell, too - in this case, the correct syntax would be NAUGHTY.

I agree with rat_sumo, the language that's allowed to be used within the forums is absolutely appalling, and it ultimately creates an unfriendly and unsafe environment for children.

The deletion of my signature by the admins, is the spark that started this thread. I'm here to set things straight - why, when somebody complains about my signature, does it have to be enforced?

Flytek sent me a PM telling me that my signature is "a bit crude for a public forum full of kids" - so then, this enforcement of the swearing filter is for the benefit of everybody younger than 18. Should you use any of the offensive words you read here in front of your parents before you are of the correct age to justify your actions then please be warned that I don't take responsibility.

I even edited my signature to include a less offensive picture, containing a phrase that wasn't even used by me in the first place - but that wasn't enough to satisfy the anal appetite of some members, and they then emailed the admins to remove my signature.
But that leaves a double standard - why stop just there, just deleting my "offensive" signature pic?
Why not censor words? Control everything?
If we're going to set an example for the younger ones we might as well suspend the posting rights for 90% of the active members because they hardly ever use proper grammar and spelling - is this how we want our children to see the world?

Please note that I am not bashing the ADMIN people of this forum. I have a great deal of respect for them, and I know as I was once a part of the team, because they have to do a lot to get the site to grow and keep it a great place.
My anger is directed at the direction of people who think they can run to Isabel Jones if something doesn't suit them.
Somebody complained to me personally, and I tried to keep him happy, as well as myself - I edited the pic. He then took it upon himself to have this vendetta against me, due to what he considered a slap in the face. I personally know the head admin, rush. He was the first person whom I met from this site, way back in 2001, and I am the first member (other than Mars) whom rush met.
We've become good friends since then, often gaming with eachother, and he even drove down to Cape Town with me. He's a good buddy.

it will always be a live unresolved issue.... censorship or lack thereof will always be a problem, cause theres always something that offends somebody and its those fackers that make the biggest noise about, since not swearing is considered more acceptable than swearing, you cant blame them for trying to minimise it, you're safer using censorship than not at all, you can never go wrong trying not to offend any mofo's..

Rat Sumo i can understan you anguish(cant think of a better word), pictures will always be sensored b4 word, just look at tv/movies etc. kids learn most swear words that exist b4 they are about 15, hell i knew most of the swear words that i know now by the time i was 13, but it doesnt mean that i use then, at the end of the day its up to the parents to educate their kids not to use these words, cause they can be picked up anywhere(most i learned at school).
Hikizume is right this issue will carry on till the end of days.
