Seems that the Infinatecall callplan is no longer capped at R7.

I was unpleasantly surprised to find that my callmore calls on my Infinate call package (haha) have gone up to R7.5 excl VAT (R8.55 incl VAT).

This is such bullshit man. I can't believe that we put up with this type of thing. Prices should be going DOWN not up.

but that amount was changed last year december if I remember correctly... that's why they took oof the R7 call more plan and changed it to infinite call!

just checked my bill online and it changed from R6.90excl in december to R7.50excl in january.

They can put it up to R923029342 if they wanted to and we couldnt do anything about it because "prices are subject to change without notice" right?

Those f*&^ers I can just as well get adsl coz Isdn is costing me about R100 less than dsl. Go figure

ISDN is costing me in the region of R800-R900 a month as well. But until the ADSL cap dissappears, I ain't changing. I get over 3 gigs a weekend alone with 128k. There's no way I'd cope.

yeah, i can get more than 3GB on 56k dialup.. so sorry, no room for adsl at this point in time.

Dam telkom and their prices. Id love to have uncapped adsl
(A person can dream cant they). I thought about the price
increase a bit, then i decided its still worth it. Its just a small
price to pay to surf planetmars for the whole weekend.

What pisses me off more than telskum, is how we just soak it all up after a quick bitch&moan. Ok, I got to practice what I preach, but can't we have some kinda mass action to force telskum to do something?
I wish the SNO would start operating, but I have this sneaky suspicion it would be naive to believe telecoms prices in south africa are going to take a dive after the SNO comes along. Nothing like some behind-closed-doors price fixing (look at the car industry in south africa)

The latest local call tariff increase is purely to subsidise cheaper overseas calls(the US and others). Now how the hell is that strategy empowering south african citizens to benefit from telecommunications? But it does make sense if you want to talk to the US embassy to organize an emigration visa...

very good point, software like skype can work well even on a 56k dialup. And you can make pc-landline calls for like 1/2 the price. Am I right in saying that Telkom has got no chance of stopping the legalisation of VoIP?

VoIP is 100% legal as of 1 February next year. There is nothing they can do to stop what is finally going to see a decent telecomunications infrastructure in this country and hopefully decent bandwidth for the masses.

Telkom still havent picked up their ISDN shit from me...All I can say I aint paying if they bill me for january. Good thing I have 2 private numbers from high ranking employees. Ask them nicely at 2:43am.
