Wow I'm enjoying it. Don't want to unleash any spoilers but I've just completed the first real story quest (GMR) and I've already played for like 7 hours doing side quests and exploring (unlike me usually).

Just a heads up if anyone has the problem where V.A.T.S doesn't work (L2 and R2 aren't working) you need to assign your controller to ID number 1 before entering the game. E.g. go to settings on your PS3 and then Accessary - its the first option.

Cheers
Dave

The engine seems to be pretty much based on Oblivion; so its first person or third person (you can switch views) and its an Action RPG I would say.

It follows on from the Fallout 2 story where you are from Vault 101 - a bomb shelter that a load of people survive in after resource wars cause nuclear fallout in 2077.

Pretty early on you learn things aren't all as they seem and escape the vault to find there are colonies of survivors around, living in a pretty rough world - essentially you leave to follow your father.

Once outside the action begins - your primary quests revolve around following and finding your father; but there are TONS of side quests etc. Its nice because its hard to get by in my opinion - you need money to keep healthy (radiation free) and to buy equipment and its hard to come buy - not like some games when you never have an issue.

The environments and characters are epic - all very well done.

You get exp for picking locks, killing, completing quests and a variety of other tasks which lets you level the basics (str etc) and your skills, as well as select perks.

There are also a good bunch of various weapons, armors etc.

I would say (and I play a lot of games) its the game of 2008.
