I think my card is overheating. I have a Radeon X1900 series card and whenever it gets to around 87 degrees it bombs me out of the game that I am playing. Any ideas why it is overheating? Or any ideas I can try to keep it cooler will be appreciated. -------------------- If at first you don't succeed. Delete all evidence that you even tried!

What are you playing? What other apps are running in the background? You running Vista?
87 is pretty scorching hot but it's still within the threshold for normal operation. Are you overclocking it at all? Generally you'll see higher temperatures with age as the thermal paste/tape wears; it could also be that your cooler has become unseated slightly. I'd take it off, clean it properly and slap on a new layer of thermal goop. -------------------- |

Playing NFS Pro Street. |

I am beginning to think it is something to do with the game. Maybe my direct X is messed. Reason I say this is because it bombed out at a lower temp and also later in the day it was running a little hotter, but it didn't bomb out.
I will play with the case open though and see if that helps at all. Will also try updating my direct X to see if that resolves the problem. |

What driver version you running?
And yes, GFX cards have thermal paste: it improves the contact between the chip and the cooler Have you tested with other games? Perhaps try a few 3DMark runs and see if it bombs out then. |

I don't think it's the game... I've also had the same issues with other games whilst everyone else played it fine... I think it's a combination of driver incompatability... it may be possible that your RAM is causing issues.

I reckon it is drivers. Will have a look at it this weekend though. No time during the week.
