I got 2 graphics cards for X-Mass. One from my fiancée as an early gift to fix my computer and one Christmas Day from my brother. Below are my computer specks so I hope I don't make u all laugh. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600(2.4GHz) 3GB DDR2 667 (2 x 1GB & 2 x 512MB) 2 x 500GB 7200RPM SATA 750GB External Drive Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 (incompatible with XP) The Cards I got for X-Mass are the ATI RADEON HD 4850 from my fiancée & the nVIDA GeFORCE 9800 GTX from my brother. I play a lot of an online game its called Second Life. It's a full online 3d world. WOW but without fighting. So that what I spend most my time doing. The RADEON is currently installed because it was gotten month ago to fix my computer. I'm not sure which is better now. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Alice |

In terms of raw processing power the ATI card has a slight edge over 9800, they both equally good cards for games nowdays but personal experience the 9800 gtx produces more heat than the 4850. I'd stick with the 4850 for now.
the 4850 supports HDMI (great for media centre pc) along with DX10.1. -------------------- Jou ma se Balhara, I'm classified as a coloured!

Thank u very much i notced one thing it dont creash anymore with the HD 4850. the computer came with a 8800 GTS but kept crashing. Mafactur said was fine but new car and stoped crashing. Go figure. I like the ATI becase very stable and works well. i was wondering is the 4850 considered the 4800 Series on the ati drivers update page???? thanks in advance

Hi alice, what GPU are you running?
With the 8800GTS it's most likely that you use the default drivers that came with the system - BAD drivers to use. It's also possible that your power supply isn't sufficient to power the computer that you are running the 4850 is the 4800 series range. and that's the driver you should download for your graphics card. |

Hi Alice,
I have both those cards, and I find that the ATI is slightly faster than the Nvidia. Although, I prefer Nvidia, but that is purely because their packaging is pretty, lol. |

sorry not too sure what pcpitstop is... it's possible that your driver is currently in use... if you had the nvidia in first you will have to first uninstall that driver and clean your computer with a nvidia driver remover before you even try installing the ATI driver
