BLeh if this makes them sleep at night then so be it, an Airbag isn't gonna make much difference in these car What a joke they didnt even bother with ABS... OK VW let not try prevent accidents cause if the citi is written off, provided the driver survives VW can have another sale... what a joke. i drive a citi and love the MK1 shape but seriously VW is freaking crazy, not to mention they plan discontinuing the model by the end f 2010 Linky |

Hehe, VW will never phase out the Citi Golf.
It's their cash cow. There have been rumours about the golf being discontinued flying around since the CTi, then the Life, then the .Com, then the Velociti and and and. -------------------- Current Baby:

Well, adding an airbag where there was none is still a safety improvement, even if it's a minor one.
Reckon that audio system will go down well with students and the like though, quite a cool selling point. -------------------- |

I wish they would add aircon and electric windows as standard features too.
I know they're not a safety feature but for the price they are asking... ABS would be easy enough to add to the package aswell. They could adapt the 9N Polo setup to fit the Citi shape. There is a Skoda model about the same size as the Citi that they could also pool parts from. Seeing as the new Citi dashboard is from the same Skoda model |

HAHAHAHA maybe if we consider the fact that a the speed you need to be going in a crash for the airbag to deploy in a frontal will probably be around the same speed the A-pillar would collapse onto the driver... the airbag might be some resistance to that... but yeah they added +- 8k onto the price for a single airbag... ABS Shoulda been the first move... thats my beef here... aircon and E/W would be great too. |

They could've added a passenger side airbag while they were at it.
I mean seriously... the sensors and ECU are already inplace, what's another wiring loom and airbag? |

Na dude this is VW they took the cheap way out, you 4get they'd have to rededisgn the dashboard on the passenger side to accomodate the change.
the drivers airbag is inside the steering wheel, all they had to do was use a steering wheel off a previous model and add the sensors and control unit.. So RK when they have a "Mod your citi with the new airbag setup" thread on the VWCSABB Be sure to post it up here too. |

Hehe nah mate, all they do is take the passenger sided airbag dashboard from the Skoda and fit that to the Citi Golf.
No re-design necessary as VW never designed that dash in the first place. Skoda has done all the work ages ago. All VW does with the Citi is "Copy - Paste" |

They should also think of changing the door panels. They look shit with the new dash.
And yes, if they pack it with 2 airbags, ABS and aircon as standard I would actually consider one as a runabout. -------------------- <null signature>
