I thought it was about time we had a MotoGP thread. biggrin.gif

So, this is where you can post anything regarding MotoGP.

Personally I am looking forward to next season. The change to the 800CC bikes, a new world champion (that I don't like sad.gif ), but it's fine. Rossi et al can go out there and show him he is rubbish. hehe I think his team mate (Pedrosa) will actually do better than him (Hayden) next season.

Should be a good season all in all.

Well I am getting excited about this season. Can Rossi win the championship back... I hope so.

I see Yamaha and Camel have parted ways, but I am still not sure who is going to be there main sponsor now. Guess I will have to wait a bit more to find that info out. sad.gif

Yeah, will be interesting to watch. They have been putting some really fast times on the new 800 bikes compared to last seasons's 990's.

I am also more a fan of F1 than MotoGP, but i do watch a race on the odd occasion.

All the riders are saying the 800's handle better than the 990's. Can hold corner speed better as well, so no surprise they getting good times.

Except the Honda, which apparently is the only bike that has not been completely redesigned. The other bikes had their frames shortened, as well as some other things, hence the increase in performance.

So it does not bode well for Hayden & Co this season. But watch out for the Suzuki's, apparently they have wings smile.gif

I'm more of an F1 fan but from time to time I catch the odd race or two.

Personally, Im a fan of Rossi.

Hopefully I will get to watch more than a few races this year.

Does anyone know if that Cricket World Cup matches will be shown on SABC or e.tv??

Same question for Rugby World Cup?

I ask, because, I will get DSTV for the duration of both tournaments if it isnt shown on free TV!!!

Its going to be one hell of a season, I rate that Rossi will take back his title, though I am one of the few people that think Hayden did well enough to take it last year, consistency counts for alot in top flight racing

That said I have been a Rossi fan since 97, so I am pushing for him to take it back, I should have tickets to Laguna Seca this year too!

Jealousy has now set in. I could live with all the other things you said, but now I am seriously jealous. Laguna Seca. sad.gif Actually a MOTO GP race. crying.gif

I am also a big fan of his. Got one of his supporter caps. Not a cheap cap I must say. Hayden was consistant, but that doesn't mean I must like him. I didn't say he didn't deserve the title. Did I? ermm.gif Let's face it though, Rossi was very unlucky with mechanical failures and tyre problems. That siad, it is all apart of racing. Man, that French GP still makes me sad. That would have won him the Championship. sad.gif Oh well, it is all over now and I look forward to this season. clap.gif rockon.gif

Just a thought: Rossi is not the guy that nearly won, Hayden is the chap that nearly threw it all away, opening the door for Rossi.

It works both ways. Hayden was unlucky once the whole season. Right at the end. Rossi was unlucky on multiple occassions. Which is why I prefer not to say Hayden almost through it away. Lets face it, he didn't almost throw it away. He was outridden in the closing stages of the season, and then was unlucky to be taken down. In fact, I wish he wasn't taken down because Rossi would have ridden better in the last race of the season. Would have been a more exciting race. Alas, it did not happen and everything that happened is a part of racing. So I am now going to leave last season behind me and just look forward to the NEW one. Just over a month. sad.gif biggrin.gif

Yeah, I watched them Biaggi won the first with Toseland 2nd. In the 2nd race it was the other way around.

Some MotoGP news:

QUOTE
Five times former world champion Valentino Rossi threw down the gauntlet to his rivals in this year's title race when he beat the lap record at the Jerez circuit in official pre-season testing on Sunday.

The Italian, who lost his crown when he finished as runner-up to Nicky Hayden in last year's championship, smashed the existing circuit best lap with a time of 1 minute 38.394 seconds on his Yamaha.

Hayden was over a second slower than Rossi while Pedrosa was pretty close 0.133 slower.

Yep. Race 1 was hotly contested bar the last couple of laps. Nice to watch.

Well the first round of the moto GP season was pretty darn good. Well done to Casey Stoner. That dude rode an awesome race, and that Duke was just AWESOME down that straight. The yami was definately lacking some power there. Jerez should be a bit different. There isn't a LONG straight there so Rossi should have a good chance of winning should he ride there like he did a few weeks back in the Official testing. All in all I reckon it is going to be an absolutely fantastic season. and yay for Hayden only coming like 8th. clap.gif

I actually feel a little sorry for Hayden, Honda have obviously developed the new bike around little wonder boy Pedrosa. But hey a champion needs to adapt so the rest of the season will show us what he is made of.

Great ride by Stoner, I don't think he would have won if it had not been for the Ducs grunt down the straight, man that thing just flew by Rossi.

Biggest dissapointment for me was Edwards, cmon Colin, you have to win at least 1 race this season!

Also great ride by Hopkins, should see a few podiums this season
