Yeah, I think American Beauty is in no way in the same class as Schindlers List or even LOTR (I <3 LOTR)
If you liked Sam Mendes' work, check out Road To Perdition (beautiful movie) and Jarhead. In style of Schindlers List : Downfall (last days of Hitler, German movie), The Pianist (Brody playing piano), Letters From Iwo Jima (to be a completist, watch Flags of Our Fathers). Cos we love Kevin Spacey so : Se7en, A Time To Kill, LA Confidential And for fluff : Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Adaptation, Capote, Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin, Thank You For Smoking,.... Enough to get started? -------------------- Locke: If it's not real, then what are you doing here, Jack? Why did you come back? Why do you find it so hard to believe? I've seen LA Confidential (awesome) and a few of the fluff movies...Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin...Haha Thanks...I will definitely keep some of the other movie suggestions in mind |

for other movies i say The Departed, Le scaphandre et le papillon, Lolita... I enjoyed these films and American Beauty was good. The script, the actors, everything was good. Speaking of the movie, what ever happened to that Suvari chick? It's too bad she didn't become huge in hollywood movies.

Hmmm..Schindlers List..i don't know man...you really can't compare the two and yeah whatever happened to the departed flicks..haha.. Mena Suvari is still acting. She has a bunch of movies coming out. I mean she's not huge but still around.

Yup, she's got one on this weekend about the Ted Binion casino scandal. Not in theatres, but a TV movie. She's plays the girl who supposedly killed Binion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln1YyzBKD2M

Its a great movie, alsojakarta- american dream (on the OST, and the main song used) is brilliant! I wish there'd been some male cheerleaders rolling around in roses too though!
Check out anything by David Lynch, especially Mulholland Drive. |

QUOTE Mulholland Drive Bloody AWESOME movie that! One of my all-time favourites (and the femme-on-femme love scene scores high as well all on its own:p). |
