Hi Guys, Started my 2l 16v conversion yesterday 11th of May 09. My Mechanic pickup my ABF 2l 16v engine, and had a look at it. Told me it doesn't even look like the engine has been used. In very good shape. I also got 20valve Throttles and VR6 Injectors yesterday (Silvertop). Next step getting a custom intake made to make the throttles work. Will keep you guys up to date. |

Why are you fitting VR6 injectors? Methinks of the post on the VW club Forum not so long ago, 1300 crank, revs like a bike, etc,ect LOL LOL at fish thread hijack not related to Corkscrews post lol Quote ZUBAIR VWBB Phenomenal Performance Discovery-A Must Read! From reading the posts as of late,I have compiled a list of performance upgrades filtered from those that don’t work.First on the list and a must are VR6 injectors, closely followed by button clutches. Also,it seems like the smaller the capacity an engine is,the more potential and successful performance engine it would make as it is often read that 1300 and 1400cc’s are handing larger engined vehicles a thrashing of note.Next,16v’s are a definite NO as the 8V’s generate more torque as opposed to the horribly unreliable, inefficient and extremely expensive 16V’s.The only issue I assume with using a small as possible displacement motor is fuelling, one cannot fuel them enough and huge carburetors or the newer individual throttle setup are just about or barely adequate. We have now established that 1300cc’s work best, only because 1100 bottom ends are really hard to come by,and being hens teeth, few and far of their owners are willing to part with these irreplaceable investments and performance monsters. The block of choice?Wait for it…the heavenly “Long block” ofcourse! What a question?!We have to fit a short a stroke as possible(1300) crank in the tallest of blocks, because then this baby will rev to 12000rpm+ without any likelihood of failure.I know this because a good buddy told me so.Piston of choice?Aaaah the beloved Caravelle pistons (Not Microbus,as Caravelle has more status, when bragging to your buddies). Now that we have the bottom end sorted, and have already established that multivalve heads are the offspring of satan, thus only the 8V head will do.Not just any peasantry U flow though, the God sent X flow will do quite nicely. Hmmm,as mentioned previously…fuelling these buggers is where the intricacies and all the science lies….45mm ITB’s?No,might just lean out and break, need something bigger to fuel the huge cfm’s we dealing with here…Aaah,48mm custom made direct to head ITB’s for the torque killing mighty 1300cc will do quite nicely indeed….Cam of choice?Hmm,after reading hundreds of posts,it’s a dead certainty, the Almighty “G” cam is our only cam of choice. So here I have it all worked out,I mock those turbocharged, multivalve morons who obviously don’t know any better..Hahahaha,next time search the forums for all technical performance expertise. The long block,VR6 injector 48mm ITB XFlow 1300 is out on the hunt waiting to prey on the measly 1800/2000cc valve needy forced induced puppies.VDub mag, make way..feature car coming through…. Now heres my dilemma.Do I use the above recipe or do I just invest in a set of VR6 injectors and button clutch on my 1300 as the effort and expense might not be worth it over the former ITB Xflow setup?I also fear creating a monster that would be a handful to control with all that power and torque. Please advise… LOL This post has been edited by Nitro Guy: May 14 2009, 12:01 AM |

See, here's the thing about the fabled VR6 Injector increases power story:
Your ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM determines how much fuel will be sprayed into the motor, NOT the injectors... You could fit 700cc injectors and not notice a difference at all, why? because if the management systems tells the injector to pulse 125cc into the motor... that's all they will do. Seriously... it's a waste of time and money. |

Agreed but you could always set your management to inject 700cc and wait for bore wash Maybe he wants to do some hectic turbo setup? though it might still be overkill with VR injectors... |
