I'm looking at getting one of these.

Which brand do you gurus recommend?

Obviously it has to be good for gaming as well, so is there a MAJOR difference in terms of a screen with an 8ms delay, and a 5ms delay. Need to be able to do those 180 degree turns as smoothly as possible in the FPSs. biggrin.gif

Why not a 22" widescreen?

I find the text a bit small and blurry on most 20" screens and the price difference isn't too much between them.

The Samsung 226BW is probably your best bet. I also saw a very sexy HP one at Incredible Corruption the other day but I'm not sure what the response time and such is like.

You are not the first to query that. Perhaps I shall rather go for that size.

Any idea on the delay differences, Rust?

I have the Samsung, ITS Awesome!

2ms Response

3000:1 contrast

with specs like those it's no question it's a great monitor.

They are also very well priced, you can get one new for less than R2700

When you looking at the 22" there are only a few monitors to pick from when it comes to gaming.

King of the Crop. HP 2207

Second in Line Samsung 2232GW (replaced the 226BW).

Both of these retail closely around 3k, but you might be lucky to pick a HP up for less.

Let me know if you want the samsung, I can hook you up.

I have 2 Sahara 22" TFTs standing in front of me.

No matter what people say about the brand - i have nothing to complain about AT ALL.

No dead pixels, no lag, no nothing.

Ok, they don't look like much, pretty standard square size, but for the price, who am i to complain ? (we retail them for R2275 per piece)

I prefer Viewsonic, my eyes don't get tired with these LCDs. I think Samsung is a good choice too. I'll plan to buy 19" Samsung with PVA matrix, cause I work with text a lot.
